Hey, all. So here's my next question: If I'm trying to learn a guitar solo from an mp3 by slowing it down and looping it, is the best way to do this to import it into Real Band and not Band in a Box? Ive highlighted the guitar solo and looped it, but when I close Real Band the selection gets lost. Is there a way to save the selection without having to extract the solo from the fileÉ (argh, I just lost my question mark)

Also, it would be super helpful if I was able to refine a selection by first making one, then being able to drag the edges instead of having to keep de-selecting and reselecting the whole thing. smile

Doug,

In Realband, you could always simply extract the section you want and paste it to a new track. Then save the file (make sure to select the .SEQ format because that will save audio). I suspect that if you've tried to save and it's not saving properly, it's due to saving as MGU or SGU.

Hope this helps,
Noel

I suggest Transcribe. To me (I have both) is better for slowing down and looping. I use RiffStation for chords.

I have Transcribe!, and Slowblast (use to be free BIAB add-on), etc.

But if you want something for FREE see this thread (see "Mac"'s post about using your built in Windows media player)

If you are trying to learn the solo from a commercially released song, find a midi version of the song that replicates an authentic sounding solo, import it into Band in a Box or RB, choose the solo midi track and get the notes and tab plus display it on the guitar fret board.

Easy ways to choose specific sections in RealBand: If you have the tempo set correctly, your solo should fit within a specific set of bars, if you are working in the track screen, click to the chord screen and choose the specific bars you want to work with. Then click back to the track screen and choose the track you want to work with. You can also use the snap to beat button from the track screen if you are choosing bars. Be sure the snap to beat button is not selected if you are choosing a selection within a bar.
Another easy and precise method when working from the track screen in RealBand is to 'zoom in' to your selection and set the curser precisely where you want to begin, hit F7 - Move the curser to precisely where you want to end your selection and hit F8 and your exact selection will be chosen without having to drag your curser around to get what you want selected.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
