Hey, everyone. I'm trying record my guitar playing through band in a box. I have the headphone-out jack on my amp connected to the microphone-in jack on my laptop, and I have my headphones connected to the headphone jack on my laptop. I can hear band in a box play the backing tracks, and my notes are being recorded (I can see the level meter moving, and I can record and play stuff back) but I can't hear myself through the headphones when I'm playing. I'm sure there's some little setting somewhere I missed. I'm on a Toshiba laptop running Windows 7. Can anyone help?

Don't normally record in BIAB - reserve that for my DAW, but I thought I could try to help out here.
Set up everything to record my guitar into BIAB with it backing - what a nightmare. I could hear and record guitar but when I tried to record the backing track failed to play??
Now I remember why I do my recording in my DAW. Sorry I can't help. It is likely a simple setting somewhere - but I'm not about to tear my system down to troubleshoot it.

Hi Doug,
It might be easier for you to record in Realband (RB). If you have a PC version of BIAB that's relatively recent, RB is included. The BIAB MGU/SGU file can be opened directly in RB.
RB will let you monitor your input audio and this is probably what's needed since you're coming from the amp's audio out. RB also makes it much easier to punch-in audio corrections.
Once audio is recorded, saving the file as MGU or SGU should then allow it to open in BIAB again (save it with a new file name though just in case you need to get back to the original file).

P.S. When using RB, it will take longer to generate the song. This is because RB fully completes the generating process before playing (BIAB, on the other hand, starts playing before generation is complete).

I have actually recorded in BB..... All I did was select the proper input from my Focusrite interface and ...waaaa laaaaa .. a track was recorded.
It's not a method of recording that I do very often but it can be done. I don't recall if you can edit the recording or not.... you know... punch in for mistakes, etc.
For that reason, I do ALL my recording in Sonar where I'm also mixing.
