When writing a tune it's simple enough to come up with a melody, but how do you for instance write the chords to the melody specifically for the guitar? I know BIAB write chords for the song as a whole, but how can I get chords specifically for the guitar alone? Example, if playing a guitar and all you play in the single notes it sounds rather dull, to embellish the playing chords are added to give it an overall more pleasant arrangement. I have tried the chord solo , but it doesn't sound right to me am I missing something here or just plain ignorant? Thanks for any and all input, especially from you guitar players.

There are multiple ways to accomplish this utilizing both BIAB and RB.
Simple method in BIAB is to generate chords for the song as a whole as you normally would. Freeze all tracks except the guitar. Edit the chord chart with your desired embellished guitar chords and generate, which will only generate the guitar track but with the chord embellishments you made.
In RB you can generate multiple tracks or sections of tracks or multi-riffs and copy/paste sections to compose a unique track from all of the generated tracks. This can be done the same as the above BIAB guitar track in RB by generating only the guitar track or track section with chord embellishments too.

The chord solo feature was created with the help of Oliver Gannon, an accomplished jazz guitarist. The chords it creates are accurate in spelling, voicing and fingering.
If the solos don't sound right to you, it may be that the jazz approach creates chords and voicings that don't fit with your style. You can always create the solo, revoice the resulting chords to fit your syle, and then freeze the track.

I know BIAB write chords for the song as a whole, but how can I get chords specifically for the guitar alone? I am lost here? Why would the chords for the song be different than the chords for the guitar? Are you talking about specific "chord voicing"? BIAB don't let you set that. Well, I guess you can edit a midi track and freeze it, but who does that? As a guitarist I follow the same chord chart that the other musicians follow. So I am confused. And actually the answers to this initial question leave me just as confused. Maybe its me.

There is a MIDI feature in BIAB call Guitar Chord Solo. From the help system: The Guitarist allows you to generate a guitar chord solo for any melody. Band-in-a-Box will intelligently arrange the melody to a guitar chord solo by inserting real guitar voicings throughout the piece. You can select from among many "guitarists" in order to create your arrangement. You can also define your own guitarists; choosing parameters such as strum speed, types of voicings (Pop/Jazz), embellishments, and much more. In "Help", you need to look it up under "Select Guitarist Dialog (Generate Guitar Chord Solo)" I'm thinking this is what is being talked about.
