It's hard to know if it is a charging port only. Is it located close to the power supply connection to the tablet? Often, manufacturers recommend connecting external devices that require power (e.g. removable HDD) to a USB port closest to the power connector. Minimizes voltage drop and load on the internal circuit boards. There are a number of YouTube videos, might help:
