If you get the "audio was recorded too" message it is usually caused by a checbox in the preferences section that says "record audio too.." but this would also mean that you have the audio input from the Audiobox selected in your Audio Preferences area. That should explain the audio recording message issue.
As for playback-
Sounds like your playback selection in "MIDI Devices" isn't correct. What device do you want to hear play the midi parts when you hit 'play' ?
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
