You said there was no rhyme or reason to your songwriting . . . that's when it's fun - an idea from out of nowhere and then you run with it. BIAB is great for that - choose a style, put in a chord progression over eight bars - and see what the resulting music inspires.
You talk about taking out the accent - I was always amazed how the act of just singing could take the Liverpudlian out of the Beatles most of the time.
