I have a regular "gig" at a local beach, actually outside the surf club, where a bunch of us get together to play some jazz - we don't get paid, but there is a donation bucket for the surf club that goes out. Until recently when he decided he'd had enough (not gettin' any younger you know) I had the privilege of playing with one of the finest drummers I've ever heard and who was part of this little group. His tempo is rock solid, understands jazz.., understands DYNAMICS, communicates well; especially with the bass player, knows that less is more, doesn't over play, doesn't under play... everything you could want - I'm really sorry he's pulled out
