Here's one of my old ones, hence the title. Many a night after a row with my siblings would end up with doors slamming and me cranking up my Yamaha PSR-70 to blast away some steam. This is the result!

The fundamentals (from song memo) are:

Style is _BLZROCK.STY

RealTracks in style: 1012:Bass, Electric, BluesRock Sw 140

Hi Eddie,

Hope things are going well in Iceland. Is it getting warmer?

This piece of music was a good listen. I loved the sax and the guitar solos. Compositions based on 12-bar blues styles always grab my attention!

All the best,
Noel

Good tune. I enjoyed it. On my system, the background guitars seemed to be a bit loud in the mix and overpowered the lead instruments just a touch. I thought the drums could be a little louder in the mix too. Small things that may just be my perception or preference, but I thought I would mention them. It's a good blues song.

Ok, that's two for the sax already, I'm very relieved! For to tell you the truth, I came very close to not use the sax at all.
See, I picked that particular sax for its stated "aggressive" style, but then it kept giving me low key & mellow. So I was on the verge of swapping it for the more cliché blues harmonica, when I thought of trying to transpose the song to a lower key (in hopes of thus giving the sax more "headroom" to go for the higher octave) - and it worked! cool

As for the "loud guitars", that was rather intentional since they're supposed to be that whole angry 'in-your-face' part of the piece. But of course I may have overdone it a tad, or they simply come off too strong when on a different sound system. Either way, I was somewhat expecting someone would make that observation, so it's all good smile
And I have to confess I focused so much on finding that all-important guitar pair of the arrangement that once I had, I just used whatever drums & bass that came with the style. I may go back to it for a revisit and pick drums & bass individually (I already have the idea to try the TexasRock ones, that bass is 'fatter'), but for something I whipped up fairly quick it's pretty close to the intended vision.

Ta to all of you for the compliments & comments!

Fun listen,

I'm glad you stayed with the sax. To me it blends well with the other instruments.

Good to see you back Icelander!! This rocks (blues) very nicely! Your organ fits in very well with "the boys in the box". Enjoyed very much!! Take care. Greg

Well, that's good. I had envisioned an 'overdrive' guitar for the melody, but a) that might be overkill, and b) I don't play a guitar grin

Hi Eddy,

Well this sounds okay! The organ melody in the first part of the song might have easily been a vocal.. No singers around? ;-)
The soloist also adds something extra to this.

You got it, I'm no good with lyrics & I'm a crap singer - and I know it! laugh
But to answer this more seriously, my music is quite often intended to convey emotion, to make the listener feel. So I often think putting lyrics to the music would actually work against that, for then those emotions & feelings are somewhat being spoon fed to you rather than being your own experience of the song.

Well, that's good, we don't seem to get all that many blues songs around here, so I'm glad to find followers of the genre. But, is this one really a 'standard' 12-bar blues, when you look closer? I'd say it's more of a 3x8 bars blues, if that's a thing, heh. I'm just lucky the main chorus adds up to the 24 bar, giving the appearance of your usual 12-bar blues. It certainly breaks the mould in a few ways, whatever the definition.
