1. Is there some way that I can globally adjust the soloist track to start small parts of a second/beat earlier than the main tracks?

Melody -> Edit Melody Track -> Timeshift in ticks -- then enter a negative number there. Experiment with the number until you hit dead on.

Actually it's Soloist -> Edit Soloist Track -> Timeshift in ticks as I'm using the soloist track - but thanks for the formula, it pointed me to where I should look.

2. How can I avoid this latency when playing the keyboard for future songs?

That depends upon what is causing it. We should at least know what you are using for the chosen MIDI synth at the time, also what Audio drivers (MME or ASIO).

Can you play the keyboard in realtime and can you hear the note immediately when a key is struck, or is there a slight lag when you do that?

- I'm using DXi synth and MME drivers. Haven't investigated ASIO for the Soundblaster yet.
- As far as I can tell the keyboard is playing in real time and I can hear it as it plays, but:
- - I'm still having the problem with very quiet sound when playing live raised in a previous thread and I've not been able to resolve it so it's difficult to tell.
- - When I record over an existing section of the soloist part, it's still playing the original soloist part whilst I'm recording it, so that makes it doubly difficult to hear.

Any further comments would be welcome.
Thanks
