Is there a way to boost the base velocities of the super-midi tracks?

I occasionally use them to replace midi tracks in my songs, but they always sound too quiet. I can change them using the mixer window, but even at max, they are overpowered by midi and real tracks. I have also tried modifying the volume / velocity in the style without success.

It may be just my hearing, but they do sound louder if they are on the soloist track rather than 'strings' for instance. They are a great improvement on the basic midi tracks.

I am using BIAB 2013

In the piano roll you can right click > Select All Notes, or highlight the Base notes for just Base, use Ctrl key and click on the Base notes on the side keyboard,
now hold the shift key down and just drag one of the Velocity levels up

Don't forget too to freeze the track, otherwise all your changes will be lost on a next BIAB session.

Some years ago, I posted in the wishlist forum to get coherent velocities in the different Super MIDI Tracks : Most of the SuperMIDI tracks have low or rather low velocities and some have very high velocities (some MIDI super tracks may reach 100 and above average value of velocity).
We, user, can't adjust these velocities, but I guess it would not be very difficult for BIAB people to do it.

Thanks
I really don't want to freeze the track, as I do like the random nature of the generated track.

it would seem like a reasonable request to have a way to adjust velocities.

Maybe put the item in the Wishlist. A more versatile way to adjust some levels might be beneficial.

Can you just copy the bass notes from the notation window to another midi track giving you separate volume adjustment ?
You can also split or adjust them separately with Musescore

Solidrock,

Perhaps, but then I lose the ability for regeneration every time I play. It's not the volume, but rather the velocities of the individual notes. Even with the mixer at 127, the volume is too lw compared to other tracks

Mario says you had a way to boost / reduce the velocities of supermidi tracks. Can it be done? I use them in my own styles but often I just can't get enough volume to match midi or real tracks.

Dave,

Have you checked the volume on your synth (software or hardware) to make sure that it's not turned down?

Regards,
Noel

I though you wanted to just adjust the LH piano notes ?

but as mentioned above
"In the piano roll you can right click > Select All Notes, or highlight the Base notes for just Base, use Ctrl key and click on the Base notes on the side keyboard, now hold the shift key down and just drag one of the Velocity levels up"

If you want to turn the Velocity up on all the notes "In the piano roll you can right click > Select All Notes, then hold the shift key down and just drag one of the Velocity levels up, the little vertical lines at the bottom (have the View/Edit set on Velocity to show them) but will will need to do this again after re-gen.

I probably haven't explained myself very well.

I am not trying to create a static song, but rather an on-the-fly accompaniment. This is regenerated each time I need it. So I don't think I can use the piano roll, as any adjustment would be a one time change.

I would like to alter the underlying midi to have a higher velocity per note.

For instance, if you create a new style, you can adjust the style patterns to have any velocity you wish. This balances the instruments to produce an acceptable mix. PGmusic suggest that this mix is balanced so that all sliders on the mixer are set at 90, making all styles equally loud.

The problem is that if you use supermidi tracks in a style, they have their own built in patterns which, as yet, I haven't found a way to modify.

I am strictly a native BIAB user. I don't use RB, a DAW or anything like amplitube. Not that I couldn't, just as yet I have had no need.

I hope that better explains my problem. When I spoke of "base",I did mean underlying, not bass as in low notes.

Thanks.

As I mentioned it, I already posted in the wishlist forum in 2013.

http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=211720#Post211720

Many users look interested, but nothing comes from PG developpers.
It would be a really useful feature for serious BIAB users using Super MIDI tracks. A such situation is very frustating, and many times I give up using Super MIDI tracks, because we can't adapt the velocity as we want.

An awful lot of coins have gone down that well with no results.

Looks like you have a need now. Move the midi over to a DAW which allows the editing you need.
