If your a member of a band or even play solo, and can rehearse your stuff on a stage, that would be a godsend for post analysing and correcting your performance, band member movements, any odd small dance routines etc so you can eventually deliver a polished performance with or for an audience!
Remember, what might feel OK with you, from a viewers point of view it might look geeky or plain silly, that would give you the chance to see it and stop that in its tracks.

I've thought this concept, at this price point, could be great to develop a simple led follow spot for bands to use.
Chad (Hope that makes it easier) TEMPO TANTRUM: What a lead singer has when they can't stay in time.

Looks pretty impressive. There's definitely a market. I think the only limitation was the minimum distance mentioned of 50 feet. Might restrict it for stage / closeup work. But it's a great gadget all the same.

Cool stuff Pat. Thanks for sharing. Looks like entry price is around $400 retail.

Yeah, for my needs, its a bit expensive... but not too expensive for somebody who is really interested in action photography. For the sports enthusiast who needs a way to document his or her adventures, it's perfect. My main hobby (web surfing) isn't exactly a high-activity sport. If they ever make a movie of my life, a slide show would be sufficient to capture the energy... ;-)

But it's a great gadget all the same. Yeah, it's clearly targeted at a demographic that is involved in outdoor sports. Also, the positioning is GPS controlled, which requires a clear line to a satellite, so it may not work inside anyway. Most indoor applications (like filming a stage) could be handled with a wide angle lens and zoom

Here's a related product that I think would be even cooler and more useful: a drone that follows a wearable sensor! It can be programmed to follow, to lead or to circle around you as you do cool things. Price is higher than the other gizmo, but IMHO, it would be much more flexible and the footage would be incredible! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vGcH0Bk3hg

for the sake of adding a connection to the topic of MUSIC making: pay attention to the music playing in both of these ads. Especially now in the age of internet video ads, There's a market for short exciting blurbs that can hold an audience's attention and ramp up their interest as the product is being demonstrated. Here's another completely different product with an exciting background song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWTcd4Vp8ec

considering how inexpensive drones, cameras and GPS devices have become, I think we'll be seeing more products along these lines ... and for a lot less than 1 grand!
My price point is when they start coming in CrackerJack boxes... ;-(

Create a business where you film people on a ski run. Or a whitewater trip.
Charge, say, $35 (very reasonable for those type activities)
It would pay for itself in a matter of days.
Extreme mountain biking.... Janice? Bud?

Extreme mountain biking.... Janice? Bud? Indeed there are all kinds of niche businesses that become possible if you have software , hardware or skills that might be useful to others, but they lack the tool, talent or time to derive the benefit for themselves! Many people seem to accept the truism that opportunity is something that happened in the past. I think it's here now, and its every7where if you feel like watching for it and acting on it.

A quick Google search and it looks like coastal towns with surf shops will rent these.
