Something else that might be worth trying, too...

1. Click on the "Plugins" button (#1) and select "VST/DXi synth settings".

2. When the next window opens, select "Combo" (#2) and from the top dropdown menu (#3), select "PG Dynamics" (#4).



PG Dynamics is a compressor and it will help tame any extreme volume peaks. I'm not sure about this because I haven't tried it but running PG Dynamics in the Combo slot should apply the effect to all tracks and thus the final mix.

When PG Dynamics is loaded, click on "Load Preset" (#1 below) and, from the list, select "Gentle Opto Leveling" (#2). Now click on the second "Load Preset" (#3).



Although I haven't tried this, using a compressor with light compression in conjunction with normalize (mentioned in the previous post) should give a reasonable consistency between songs and the different tracks used.
