Has anyone else purchased this module? I think some of the sounds are great, but I am very disappointed that it needs to run off a power adapter and not USB like the SD2 or SD4. I am considering putting the SD1000 up on eBay. As I paid $450 (and it has less than 2-3 hours playing time) what would be a fair price to ask?

These are still not available on Amazon and there are none currently listed on eBay.

Hey Philly. - South Jersey here. wink

Unfortunately, what you paid has no relation to what it's worth (you already know that, of course). You might just put it up for $400 and see what happens. The scarcity of the unit could work in your favor.

Lol !! That has usually been the case, but I am thinking that since there is only one source (of which I am aware) in the U.S. and it is new and scarce, you're probably right that $400 would be a good place to start.

Thanks.

I don't own a SD-2 but everything I have read EVERYWHERE says it requires the 12V wall wart, it does NOT run off 5V USB - so in that respect you will gain nothing but going to the SD2 or 4 or... (I've been thinking about getting an SD-2 for grins for a long time and doing a direct patch to patch comparison to my SC-8850 and some of the GM banks in my other synths)

I COULD be wrong about USB power however, since others here who DO have and use SD-2's have not corrected you yet on that point

I owned an SD2 and currently own an SD4 and I can guarantee that I have run both very comfortably off USB. The saxophone patches alone do it for me. I play a WX7 woodwind controller. I have an enormous selections of SoundFonts and have owned every Sound Canvas that was ever made. For most acoustic sounds, Ketron has no close competition. They obviously sample good musicians playing quality instruments.

The only connectors on my Ketron SD-2 are RCA stereo output connectors, MIDI in and MIDI thru connectors, and an electric power connector for the wall brick on the back. The front has a headphone jack and volume control.

If there's a USB connector on it, it is very well hidden.

My SD-2 sure doesn't have any USB.

I suspect that PhillyJazz might have confused it with another piece of equipment, a USB to MIDI interface, for example an iConnectMIDI2+ or M-Audio M-Track etc.

No, sorry .. I guess I meant the SD4. It's been a long time since I had the SD2 and I pretty quickly replaced it with the SD4. Probably I did that because of the USB feature smile .

The SD4 is essentially two SD2 modules in a larger box with a bunch more user buttons. It runs off any USB port I have tried. I know a guy in France whose SD1000 can be powered by his USB port, but that seems to be a manufacturing anomaly.

I own a SD2 and have heard some of the other Ketrons and didn't actually find a big difference to justify moving to a newer Ketron. it just my hearing or there is actually a big difference in the sound banks?

There are some cool multi-sounds (like sax sections) but nothing I can't replicate with the SD4 (which allows four voice patches.) I think it's definitely an improvement over the SD2 in that respect, but no match for the SD4.
