That should be fixed.

In a similar vein, in Microsoft Project, if you select (for example) to print only pages 1 and 2, and then do a print preview, once you come back to the print dialog, it will have reverted back to printing all pages (which is easy to miss. So even the big boys have these kinds of problems.

At least in this case you get fewer pages, rather than realizing you printed 100 pages of stuff you don't need.

But yes, this should be fixed. Anything you set in the dialog box should stay at least for that file until you close the file (and Microsoft should do the same).
