I could sure use some help on this one. I have had difficulties with codas/tags in BIAB for eons. I would like to get it figured out once and for all.  I would like to have a coda at the end of the song. If BIAB wants to call it a Tag that's OK with me too. I set up a DC al Coda. DC at bar 32. Capa is bar 1. Coda marking is at bar 16. Coda is at bar 33. When this didn't work I caved in and created a Tag. Now it shows: DC al Code at 32, Tag>coda at bar 16 and coda marking at bars 33 and 49! Not sure why one was inserted at bar 49! This is showing in Chord Sheet mode when I disable FakeSheet mode. When I enable Fakesheet, bars 33 to 48 disappear (grey)! Any help in this convoluted matter would be appreciated. I would also like to know where to tell BIAB to go for the Coda? You only get two options for setting up a Coda: 1. DC after Bar# 2. Go to Coda after Bar# But BIAB guesses where the Coda starts!! I my case it guessed bar 49, which is wrong. The Coda should start at bar 33! BTW, to simplify things, I have reduced the song to just one verse.

That's how I do it. It also makes it easier to see where I am at any given moment, in the song.

For what it's worth, I set my songs out exactly the same way as Herb. I, too, prefer the control that having a single chorus offers.

That's how I do it. It also makes it easier to see where I am at any given moment, in the song. Thanks Noel and Herb! I will take a look at that video you posted Noel. Herb, unfolding into one big chorus makes sense for the reason you stated above and also if you are just creating a .mp3 file. But my situation is totally different. I am trying to create performance charts. With this in mind, it is always more convenient to have less papers (to turn etc.) This is the basis for my post.

I'll be darned, it worked Noel. Thanks very much! I must admit though that the instructions are far from intuitive. Each time I create a Coda I will have to refer back to this video.

You can print the chord charts to one sheet....
OR.... use technology.
Put the charts and sheet music in a digital device and use a bluetooth foot pedal to turn the pages forward or back.

Here's another take on creating charts. I finally gave up on using the repeats, tags or coda endings because the symbols are so small and many times they crowd the chord that's written there. Basically the chart is unreadable on stage.
Try this. Look at a typical fake chart and ignore how the song actually goes, just focus on the physical chart itself. Pretend there are no 1st/2nd endings, coda's or tags. Simply count the bars and look at the chords above. Enter that into Biab exactly how the chart looks, print it and then handwrite those things in. I can do a chart in literally five minutes that way while all the futzing around with Biab's controls to display all that crap can take hours.
Of course you lose the ability to have Biab create a pdf but if you have a scanner you can create a pdf that way.

It's funny you should mention this Bob. Because this is exactly what I did last night. I encountered another Coda that was different from the one that I mentioned worked earlier. I opened the video instructions that worked and tried them for my new situation and it couldn't be done. So I basically just did what you had suggested above. I printed the sheet without any markings and hand-marked them in afterwards. Saved me hours of frustration and work. There should be a pop-up to this effect in BIAB. On the Repeats/Coda menu (after you open it a couple of times) a pop-up should surface saying "Have you thought about just printing without any markings and hand-penciling them in?"

I've been using BIAB for almost 20 years. It came out on floppy disks. BIAB started out as an auto-accompaniment program. The notation program was an add-on but not a full blown notation program. It's still not a full blown notation program. It's great to make chord or lead sheets. For anything else you should use something like Muse Score (free).

BiaB is the best when it comes to creating simple charts fast. I often do something like JAZZMAMMAL suggests. I might create a full BiaB song with repeats and endings for an audio demo. As part of the process I will create a bare-bones version that is not meant to be heard. It is just meant for printing out lead sheets. Just one time through, simplified notation for easy reading and chords above. Print it out, pencil in DS's, letter-A letter-B, codas, 1st and 2nd ending etc. Hand them out.
I save the simple versions separately. The full song might be MOONGLOWBIAB.mgu and the simple version might be called MOONGLOPRINT.mgu.
Yes, if I need to print something more complex, in full detail, I will go to another notation program. But for quick simple lead sheets, BiaB cant be beat.
