There is a temp folder for the files used in Drag 'n Drop. It is normal, not a bug, to overwrite these upon a subsequent operation.

Some DAWs allow you to delete the contents of this temp file (SONAR does, for example) so there is a setting in BIAB to wipe the temp folder clean on each startup of the program. Until you restart the program, you should be able to go in and do a Windows copy of the files to some other location if you want to save them. Perhaps also change that setting to not overwrite them upon startup.
