This sounds like a mouse problem to me. I just took a break from editing a prerecorded melody line in a Biab file and I got that sometimes too just a few minutes ago.

You have to be very precise when you grab the note with your mouse. If you miss it just a tiny bit then you get what you described. You miss grabing the note, you move your mouse to the new location and in that case it enters a new note. Your screen resolution affects this too.

Some mice are more precise than others and of course the better ones cost more money. If you're using a basic generic $5 mouse maybe you should spring for a more expensive Logitec or something. You might go into your mouse properties window and try making some changes as well. As far as Biab, that function works fine and always has it's just touchy.
