I only made an assumption regarding PDF995 (OP didn't say which virtual printer he used). That being said, there is nothing wrong with PDF995. It makes just fine PDF's. I've been a registered user of it (meaning I purchased it) for many years with no problems.

But you do have to configure it for how you want to use it. Ditching it because you don't want to make a simple printer setting is like throwing away a perfectly good printer because it won't print two-sided unless you configure it to do so.

But use whatever works for you.
