A build 103 update patch is available for Band-in-a-Box 2015. (July 15, 2015)

Download the Band-in-a-Box 2015 Build 103 update (40MB)

Summary of fixes in build 103 (since build 102)

  • Fixed: Audio Base Tempo was not being set when loading or recording audio files, so changing the tempo after recording would appear to shift the audio, and not stretch it properly.
  • Fixed: Rendering a video would often fail (video file gets deleted at the last moment).
  • Fixed: Changing the current bar in the leadsheet or notation window, would not highlight the appropriate cell in the chordsheet.
  • Improved: Video Window added. This allows you to open a video file in Band-in-a-Box and play it along with your song. You can extract the video part of the file (no audio), or extract the audio part (no video), or keep both. The video can be sped up or slowed down, and the audio will be stretched using Elastique.
  • Improved: There is now an "Auto Tick Offset" checkbox added to the Notation Window options dialog. If enabled, Band-in-a-Box will automatically determine the tick offset by analyzing the notes on the track. Disable this if you want to set the tick offset manually.
  • Improved: StylePicker Filter dialog has an [All Styles] button added. Clicking this will change the currently selected category in the Picker to "All Styles" so that you are not filtering by a particular category.
  • Improved: The [Freeze/Simple] button and popup menus opened by the button have been split into a [Freeze] and [Simple] buttons.
  • Improved: In Bar Settings, selecting 'Change by' etc, sets keyboard focus of the edit item that appears, so user can immediately start typing in a number without having to click on the edit control.
  • Fixed: There is no error message when user attempts to save a file to the root of a drive.
  • Fixed: With smaller window sizes, some of the track radio controls would get hidden behind the mixer.
  • Fixed: Big Piano button was missing from popup menu (smaller resolutions).
  • Fixed: Guitar button was missing from popup menu (smaller resolutions).
  • Fixed: Audio > Move Audio to Performance Track... was removing audio file, but not freeing the memory (so it appeared/sounded like the audio track still existed).
  • Fixed: Audio > Move Audio to Performance Track... was not warning user about overwriting an existing APT.
  • Fixed: Audio > Move Performance Track to Audio... would fail with a confusing -2 error when there was an existing audio track, rather than asking the user permission to kill the existing track and enable the Undo option.
  • Fixed: Audio > Move Performance... or Move Audio... was not updating track radios, or mixer labels/descriptions (names, colors).
  • Fixed: Audio > Move Performance... or Move Audio... should not be allowed when the song is not saved yet.
  • Fixed: Audio > Move Performance... or Move Audio... the 'Choose track...' dialog was using default track names instead of custom/auto track names.
  • Fixed: Various small modal dialogs (eg 'Choose a track...') were not properly responding to Return/Enter/Esc keys, and not highlighting the default OK button.
  • Fixed: Any item in Audio > Edit Audio should be skipped entirely if there is no audio track.
  • Fixed: Clicking (right or left) on the Label button in the mixer would trigger the popup menu, but this should just select the track for a left click, or open the Rename Track Label dialog for a right click.
  • Fixed: Pre-Record dialog would allow invalid ranges for punch in.
  • Fixed: Punch in recording would not mute the punch in region of the audio track.
  • Fixed: Bar Settings dialog did not have Audio track, so volume could not be controlled: Mute, Back to Normal, Change by, Fade (per bar).
  • Fixed: Bar Settings dialog would not cancel some settings (all the volume related combos, and corresponding edits).
  • Fixed: Bar Settings volume range title '(-127 +127)' visibility was random.
  • Fixed: Replay Already Constructed Song (Command-R) was a File menu item in the old layout, but was missing from the new layout (now it is under Play > Play), so the hot-key was not responding.
  • Fixed: Play > Next Juke Song was opening the Previous song.
  • Fixed: Play > Previous Juke Song was opening the Next song.
  • Fixed: Windows > Switch to Next Track had the wrong hot key.
  • Fixed: Windows > Switch to Previous Track had the wrong hot key.
  • Fixed: Windows > RealDrums Settings had the wrong hot key.
  • Fixed: Windows > RealDrums Picker had the wrong hot key.
  • Fixed: Windows > RealTracks Settings had the wrong hot key.
  • Fixed: Windows > RealTracks Picker had the wrong hot key.
  • Fixed: Edit > Chord Settings... had the wrong hot key.
  • Fixed: Edit > Slide Tracks should have no hot key.
  • Fixed: Edit > Bar Settings... had the wrong hot key.
  • Fixed: Edit > Song Memo... had the wrong hot key.
  • Fixed: Save As Video... some songs will fail to create a video (usually if the song is MIDI-only).
  • Fixed: Mixer dB controls [THIS SONG] & [ALL SONGS] did not have right-click popup dialogs for typing in values.
  • Fixed: Some odd audio formats could not be imported (eg. a WAV file with an embedded MP3 file).
  • Fixed: The [B][P][D][G][S][M][S] buttons in the Big Piano window were not being updated for custom/automatic track names.
  • Fixed: Using [Space Bar] to start playback in Audio Edit window would round to the closest bar instead of starting from the cursor.

Andrew- When I use the new bar based section letter option (BIAB 2015 MAC build 103) it works fine, but then it "magically" inserts random bar based letters later in the song where I don't want them. And I cannot remove them by clicking "remove." There are several of these and they have screwed up my chord sheet so badly that I have trouble figuring out where I am in the song. Am I doing something wrong?
