The tracks window track modules can be easily changed in appearance, though the size/shape need to remain the same.

I redesigned my track modules long ago. Played with a few 'skins' I made, and eventually quit when it looked like screenshot below. It still looks like this.
As you can see, the blue FX 'on' is a simple graphic change.

If anyone wants to know how, it's changing some 'glyphs' and small bitmaps. No executable or install needed.
Rename the correct PT/RB image folder and make the ones you want in a new folder with the right name. I think I posted how a few years back on this forum.

X:\RealBand\PTW_Pictures\Skins\Default\Arranger_Window
Do NOT change the size/name of any of the images. To revert back just rename the original folder back.

... also I did a drawing of the routing options and FX use in RB a while back (again on this forum). I'll see if I can find it.
It helps explain how the signal paths can work in RB. I agree with above that the A1 output is likely the best spot for your description.
