I have mentioned many times on this forum that you can save a heck of a lot of time in creating a big band (or any other size band) arrangement in say Finale, MuseScore, Sibelius or Overture 4 if you first create BIAB files with all of the harmonies, change them to MIDI files and then import them into your chosen arranging program.

You will note that I said "files" plural, which does increase the work time considerably. The need for several files is because, although I can set up a BIAB file with say four choruses and each chorus with a different lead instrument and harmonies, maybe even change instruments and harmonies half-way through a chorus, and even set up secondary harmonised lines in the Soloist track; I am unable to produce a MIDI file which is an exact copy of the BIAB file.

Maybe there is a gap in my knowledge that someone can fill? Because, when I produce a midi file, it only picks up the first harmony I used and applies this to the whole file, ignoring the changing instruments and harmonies that I have in my BIAB file. Thus I have to produce a BIAB and a MIDI file for each harmony condition.

Has anyone encountered this problem and hopefully solved it, so that I only need to import one MIDI file into my arranging program?
