I don't know about the LE (light) version, but SONAR Producer 8.5 was very stable and effective. The move to the new Platinum, Pro or Artist is pretty easy. Plus, you would get a discount for owning a prior version of SONAR: http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONAR/Versions
