The notation window offers a feature that color-codes notes based on absolute pitch, scale degree, or chord degree. However, it only works for the bass, melody, and soloist tracks. It is available as an option in the other tracks, but it appears to have no effect. As an example, here's a bass track. Color-coding works. Here is a piano track from the same song. Color-coding is enabled in the menu, but the notation window doesn't display it. Here are the notation settings for reference. Note that Note Colors are enabled in "Absolute" mode: It seems that it should be easy to make this work for all tracks and perhaps it was just an oversight or a bug. Please make color-coding work for all tracks in a song! Thanks!

I received a response from the support email address, so the dev team is aware of this now.

As a pianist and a good reader, I would not like to read color coded music like that. I don't think any good reader would like to read that kind of music. What's the purpose?

Well, me too, but it doesn't matter much what we prefer. This is the Wishlist, and the OP is entitled to ask for what he prefers. Maybe he wants to teach little kids, or maybe he directs a bell ringers choir - we don't know. In addition, apparently he (or she) has discovered an inconsistency, something I don't care for no matter what the feature. So, in the spirit of helping,
+1

+1 Very good points Matt. So if this feature can be turned on or off then a +1 from me.

I figure if you can control colors, then you can also decide to leave them alone. But yes - it should be optional.

I would still like to know the purpose of the color coding. It might be something useful to all of us.

Ray:
I can see at least one useful purpose for colored notes. Say I'm teaching my grade-school grandson to play bass guitar. I put colored dots on the fretboard to match the colored notes on the staff.
He follows the staff notes by fingering where the corresponding colors are on the bass fretboard. He soon (hopefully) learns that whenever he sees (say) a blue staff note, that he needs to play a G note on the bass, and eventually the colors become unnecessary and he can remove the colored dots.
Just a thought. I have enough grandsons I should try it out <grin>. LLOYD S

+1 I can see color coding being used for educational purposes, not for pro players to read.
