While I understand a simple patch change can change the midi instrument from one type of instrument (such as a bright piano) to another instrument (such as an acoustic guitar) the playing method needs to also change. So a midi supertrack recorded of piano playing most likely will not sound natural when a guitar patch is selected.
So the answer is to create guitar midi supertracks! Great suggestion.

EDIT: it would be very useful also, if when recording real guitar tracks they recorded the midi also that can be used for realcharts and also work with a virtual instrument as supermidi tracks. They could use something like the fishman triple play, that would fit quickly with a small bit of double sided tape to the session player's guitar.
