When I'm working on a lot of things I like to Hibernate at night, but when I start the PC up out of Hibernation the next day RB2015 goes up to 6k+ bars when played then you have to restart it, the other RB's did not do this.

I don't know if it's related, but I have noticed that when I do a lot of slicing & rearranging within a track, when I finally consolidate audio, it sometimes places data wayyyyy out thousands of bars away, and there isn't anything I've discovered to fix it.

Occasionally I'm able to find the errant data and delete it, and my file ends when the tracks end... but more often, RB thinks the song hasn't ended yet (because there is still something on one of the tracks)

Because of this, I can't use juke box anymore, because some songs just won't end in order to start the next song.

I never saw this until 2015.

Pat, this phenomenon happened in previous versions of RealBand as well.

And yes, it generally happened after doing audio edits on the track.

I was thinking kind of along the same lines; bad habit to get into and a good way to lose data/work.
The fix is easy; stop doing that! smile

I trust Solidrock that it can happen, I'll take his word on it.

I use hibernate (manually) all the time, but I save/close my work before doing so. I do not allow my system to go into Hibernate automatically.

.. for friendship sake I'll go try it, but it'll be manual hibernate ..

FWIW I did not get added measures after hibernate.

Thanks for weighing in on this John. I started another thread on it a while back and don't recall getting any affirmation at the time. But then, there are a LOT of things I don't remember these days. ;-)

If you have seen it in previous versions, then that seals it for me, your credibility is golden. I never noticed it until recently.

Did you figure out a way to remove whatever data got placed way out in LaLa land? It doesn't show up in the event editor, which would be the logical place to find needles in haystacks.

Highlight all tracks and Cut from the last bar thru bar 10,000 and Close Gap .. quickest way I know of when it happens.

Since it seems related to making lots of edits, I figure it is caused by the temp files getting confused during the edit process.
RB allows a lot of 'Undoing' so it is storing a ton of temp files to allow this.

If you use a second drive for the Temp Audio Directory it seems to help a lot. It may be that Windows temp files are messing with RB temp files when they are all on the same drive.
My Temp Audio Directory is shown below (set in Audio Prefs).

great and simple idea! Thanks Bob! Funny how it is so easy to become hamstrung by habits that keep us from finding solutions. I've been trying to hilight to "the end" by click-dragging the mouse ... which is slowwwwwww and I usually run out of memory and lock everything up tighter 'n a drum.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying to enter those values in the FROM-TO fields... which makes so much sense I think I need to go straight to a tattoo place and get "BIG OL' DUMMY" tattooed on my forehead.

Yes, setting From - Thru on the Cut routine is what I meant.

For the second quote; I know some systems prohibit this, but if you can have a separate Temp Audio Directory on another drive it truly does help in many ways in my experience. In other DAWs too.

"Hibernate Is Heaven" for what I do, I have been using it nearly every day for over 10 years, it's a pain closing everything then waiting for the startup next time. If you are in the middle of something and get called out just "SAVE the Apps first !" then Hibernate and I can come back in a hour or a month and it comes up instantly as you left it. Previous version of RB worked fine.
I had problems with the AppData/Local/Temp when using PowerTracks at the same time as RB so I just change the default out of the temp root to
AppData/Local/Temp/Realband

I never use hibernate.

I save and shut down.

It's only a minute for the reboot. I need to tune my guitar and do some other studio chores so that normally takes longer than the boot process.

Nothing like a nice clean boot to start the session.

of course, that's my opinion and I've been using this process since I started recording with a computer.

A Bug's a Bug, did anyone else actually TRY Hibernate maybe with a VSTi to see if they get the same problem, like Hibernate comes with Windows it's there for a reason, not to be scared of the unknown.

Hi SR, I haven't been in a position to let my system hibernate so I haven't been able to prove / disprove your experience. I wonder though did you report to Support, and if they have been able to identify / reproduce?

It sounds as though a variable is becoming uninitialized as part of the hibernation / wake process. Unusual, but could happen I guess.
