Is that a Firewire device? From what I can tell, since the FW410 is discontinued, it is not fully supported for use on Windows 10. It may or may not work, and as you can see by the link, it is recommended to install the latest driver.

It's a firewire device, and it's working ok, but is sometimes setup wrong after boot up ?? I think it's time to follow your advice, but which module should I choose?
(I'm still working on Train to Omaha and it may take a long while, I'll try not to forget you John :-)

Lots of folks on the forum here seem to like the FocusRite line of audio devices.
I like my M-Audio FastTrackPro, but it's dated now. And Avid sold off the M-Audio line, so it's not exactly what it was (perhaps even better, but others would have to comment).

Strat, I have read that some people had to reinstall drivers to get soundcard and audio input devices to work. Have you tried that?

I'm using a Presonus Audiobox USB interface and have had no issues upgrading to Win10. It also comes with Studio One Artist DAW which I think is pretty darn good. Not sure of your setup, so it may or may not have as many inputs as you need.

One issue with FireWire devices is that Windows 8 and 10 dropped support for FireWire. Some devices require finding what is known as the "legacy FireWire driver" from Windows 7, installing and selecting it.
Even then, the handwriting is on the wall for the limited future of the FireWire standard.
I'm one of those on the forum using Focusrite Scarlett USB interfaces with good results on Windows 10.

Check out the Zoom gear. I use the UAC-2 USB3 interface and love it. They have other interfaces and some wild looking 8 separate input versions. Too expensive for me. Mine's only 2 input! It works a treat with Windows 10 though I had a couple of minor hiccups early on and had to re-install it. The loop back feature is useful for things like streetjelly.

I went back to wIN 7 after toying with WIN 10. My system used a focusrite firewire device and it all worked as intended. So, all hope is not lost. I did not have to tweak, it just happened. I installed over win 7.

One issue with FireWire devices is that Windows 8 and 10 dropped support for FireWire. Yet another reason why I will avoid 10 as long as I can. My mixer that the drums run through is connected via Firewire. My studio PC will stay on XP probably forever.

I'll second that Focusrite USB products work well on Win10.

I have just bought focusrite Scarlett 2i2, it has the inputs I need and I was promised that I could return it if it didn't work with win 10. All seems to work fine and it is really low noise.

Nice Strat. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I even upgraded to one with more ins/outs after I had the starter model.

We have an old saying "the trees don't grow into the heavens". The focusrite works great but sometimes, every now and then, I have to reboot my pc to avoid the audio from youtube to misbehave. If I reboot everything works fine, how come?? Strat

The focusrite works great but sometimes, every now and then, I have to reboot my pc to avoid the audio from youtube to misbehave. If I reboot everything works fine, how come?? That could be any of several issues. If you have your Focusrite Scarlett Mix Control window up, watch the sampling rate when you hit you tube. I do all of my recording at 96kHz but when I hit the web, sites like you tube will cause the mixer to switch back to 44.1kHz. This usually causes an audio click when it is switching over. I make sure never to have any web browsers open during recording. Also, if you have BIAB/RB/any DAW open with a 96kHz file, you tube may not run correctly. To resolve that, close your music programs and try you tube again. Audio apps will lock the sampling rate in until they are closed. So watch the mixer when opening you tube to see what's up.

It's the mixer screen software that comes with the Scarlett interfaces. Did you install that software or just the drivers?

I installed the downloads I found on the website, no physical discs were enclosed! As of win 10 problems I can say that I have to boot up my PC twice to avoid my audio to severely distort, everytime I boot up my PC I have to boot up once more to avoid audio distortion?

I have several Windows 10 PCs each with a Focusrite Scarlett (different models). I followed the instructions to download and install Windows 10 beta drivers but experienced some pops/crackles. Focusrite support directed me to roll back to version 1.8, which fixed the problems.
Note that I never experienced "distortion" and if that's what you have, my suggestion is to 1) verify bit and sample rates and 2) verify what device is controlling the clock timing. In the Focusrite MixControl software, you can set the timing to Internal or to another digital device (if you have one, such as something connected to the Scarlett SP/DIF port.

I'm right there with you Dan. Statements like: "appear to be compatible with Windows 10" scare me off.
