Several years ago I made this observation which led me to write this song...let me know if you agree.

The Beat is the Same

Down in the south I was born and bred
On rock-n-roll
I knew all the songs and the words
It was my heart and soul

The songs that we heard were just simple then
But paved the way
I would not change a thing at all
For what they're playing today

Rock-n-roll's changed in a drastic way
To say it bluntly
The beat is the same
But now they call it new country

Though I'm confused what the hay
I know life does go on
It's never the same what a shame
I miss my rock-n-roll

Style - clasrok_sty classic rock & roll
Drums - rock classic brit env
Bass - 1717
Piano - 1563
Guitar - 496
Guitar - 648
Solo guitar - 1516
Country solo guitar - 1169
Resonator - 2038
Pedal - 2001

Couldn't stop myself tapping the table! A nice raucous work out with a great lyric. What a great voice you have - Roger Miller timbre!

Sonny,

That sounds like a song from a Broadway Show - about Rock morphing to Country... I'd say you've got the genres covered!...

Nicely put together. Nice vocal, too - there was one point toward the end that it had a real Haggard sound...

Enjoyed it.

Good stuff!! I'm a fan of the good ol' time rock and roll myself. They don't write 'em like that anymore. This is a fun and pleasant tune. Cool arrangement and nice vocal, and as John said, made you want to tap your hand/foot. Well done! Take care. Greg

Hi Sonny,

The songs we've heard from you so far definitely show, that you are not a newbie in music making/recording, are we right? grin

This is a smooth sounding production, a good choice of RTs and well sung by Daniel.

A good start to my day!

I started with BIAB in 2011 and since then I have created over 100 songs to this date. I am new to the forum because I spent most of my time getting songs ready and now I am exposing them to everyone on the forum. I chose not to sing my own songs since I am 68 years old and to have a good friend like Daniel has been a God send to me. He is so versatile and is capable of doing everything that I ask of him. It also helps to have a five octave range in the process. I have several songs that I have written for a female but at this point I have not found the right fit yet. I hope this answers your question and thanks for the nice words. I will let Daniel know what you said about him.

Sonny, I love Daniel's vocal. I like the editing and the entry of the steel after the phrase " new country". Very enjoyable. Tom

I learned that lesson from my daughter when our quartet commissioned her to write a song for us based on a true experience. Her first draft did captured the story but was very long. I ask if she would take another stab at it and make it shorter and what she came back with was just remarkable...we did not change a word. So I try to use my own advice when I write lyrics. Thanks again!

Fine rocker that we much enjoyed.
The mix is well put together and
sounds excellent on my monitors.

You mentioned gospel quartets...
Little do folks nowadays know how
those guys could literally rock. Janice
and I both love the Blackwood
Brothers. Man, that piano
picker...wow.

Nice song you got here and like
Tom mentioned the mixing shows
the effort that went into it.

Thanks for letting me know what you liked about the song and I will be adding a lot more that I have created and recorded. Right now I do not have too much time to work on anything new and Daniel has gotten real busy with a new job and a new relationship that seems to be working out just fine for him. My wife and I are very happy for him for he has been searching for just the right woman for quite a while.
