Several years ago I made this observation which led me to write this song...let me know if you agree. The Beat is the Same Down in the south I was born and bred On rock-n-roll I knew all the songs and the words It was my heart and soul The songs that we heard were just simple then But paved the way I would not change a thing at all For what they're playing today Rock-n-roll's changed in a drastic way To say it bluntly The beat is the same But now they call it new country Though I'm confused what the hay I know life does go on It's never the same what a shame I miss my rock-n-roll Style - clasrok_sty classic rock & roll Drums - rock classic brit env Bass - 1717 Piano - 1563 Guitar - 496 Guitar - 648 Solo guitar - 1516 Country solo guitar - 1169 Resonator - 2038 Pedal - 2001

Couldn't stop myself tapping the table! A nice raucous work out with a great lyric. What a great voice you have - Roger Miller timbre!

Sonny,
That sounds like a song from a Broadway Show - about Rock morphing to Country... I'd say you've got the genres covered!...
Nicely put together. Nice vocal, too - there was one point toward the end that it had a real Haggard sound...
Enjoyed it.

Good stuff!! I'm a fan of the good ol' time rock and roll myself. They don't write 'em like that anymore. This is a fun and pleasant tune. Cool arrangement and nice vocal, and as John said, made you want to tap your hand/foot. Well done! Take care. Greg

Hi Sonny, The songs we've heard from you so far definitely show, that you are not a newbie in music making/recording, are we right? This is a smooth sounding production, a good choice of RTs and well sung by Daniel. Rob and Anne-Marie

I wish that I could take credit for the vocals but my good friend Daniel Hensley is up to this point doing all my vocals. I will tell him what you said. Thanks for the kind comments. Thanks for the kind words. It's strange that you would mention it, but I do have another song that I will post in the future that will reference one of Bill Haley's song. It's called "Remembering Rock-N-Roll". Sonny Good fun. Enjoyed it! I miss Bill Haley. (could be a song there). Cheers.

Floyd thanks for listening and I always take heed of what you have to say. The positive of course is always the most encouraging. Sonny Sonny,

You are right about me not being a newbie to music (in general) for I have been involved in music most of my life. Three rock and roll bands, solos and choir at church and most recently nine years with a southern gospel quartet. I do have a vocal studio in my home and BIAB was a perfect fit for me. I started with BIAB in 2011 and since then I have created over 100 songs to this date. I am new to the forum because I spent most of my time getting songs ready and now I am exposing them to everyone on the forum. I chose not to sing my own songs since I am 68 years old and to have a good friend like Daniel has been a God send to me. He is so versatile and is capable of doing everything that I ask of him. It also helps to have a five octave range in the process. I have several songs that I have written for a female but at this point I have not found the right fit yet. I hope this answers your question and thanks for the nice words. I will let Daniel know what you said about him. Sonny Hi Sonny, The songs we've heard from you so far definitely show, that you are not a newbie in music making/recording, are we right? Sonny, I love Daniel's vocal. I like the editing and the entry of the steel after the phrase " new country". Very enjoyable. Tom

Thanks Alyn. I am glad that you like the song and thanks for the comment on the rhyme. Lyrics are the hardest part for me because I want to make it simple but yet to the point. I learned that lesson from my daughter when our quartet commissioned her to write a song for us based on a true experience. Her first draft did captured the story but was very long. I ask if she would take another stab at it and make it shorter and what she came back with was just remarkable...we did not change a word. So I try to use my own advice when I write lyrics. Thanks again! Thanks Tom for giving me your assessment. As you all know, it takes a lot of work to get the desired result when creating a band. All the musicians are professional but it takes patience to find just the right ones for each particular song. For me, some songs come quickly but others may take days. Sonny Sonny, I love Daniel's vocal. I like the editing and the entry of the steel after the phrase " new country". Very enjoyable. Tom

Fine rocker that we much enjoyed. The mix is well put together and sounds excellent on my monitors.
You mentioned gospel quartets... Little do folks nowadays know how those guys could literally rock. Janice and I both love the Blackwood Brothers. Man, that piano picker...wow.
Nice song you got here and like Tom mentioned the mixing shows the effort that went into it.

I grew up with my dad playing the Blackwood Brothers and others and you are right about the piano playing. That is one of the things that I was disappointed with was the lack of southern gospel pianos in BIAB. I had just retired from a quartet that I had been with for nine years and I wanted to write a few southern gospel songs. Maybe BIAB will eventually add this request. Thanks for letting me know what you liked about the song and I will be adding a lot more that I have created and recorded. Right now I do not have too much time to work on anything new and Daniel has gotten real busy with a new job and a new relationship that seems to be working out just fine for him. My wife and I are very happy for him for he has been searching for just the right woman for quite a while. Sonny Fine rocker that we much enjoyed. The mix is well put together and sounds excellent on my monitors.
