Ich habs bis heute nicht hinbekommen, das mitgelieferte Sampletank zum Laufen zu bringen. BiaB liefert beim Umstellen auf HiQ-Instrumente italienische (!) Alert-Boxen mit der Meldung "ATTENZIONE: PART2: INSTRUMENT NOT FOUND".
Wo finde ich denn mal eine richtige Anleitung, wo und wie die Sampletank-Daten in welchen Ordnern zu liegen haben?
Es ist wirklich frustrierend, weil ich damit schon Stunden verbracht habe, ohne weiter zu kommen. Als Problemlösung bietet mir Band in a Box rechts unten an, die Instrumente würden sich nicht im Ordner "D:\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2.5\Instruments\Band-in-a-Box\Band-in-a-Box" befinden, dorthin soll ich sie kopieren. Diesen doppelt gestaffelten Unterordner "Band-in-a-Box" unter "Instruments" gibts bei mir nicht. Ich kann den zwar anlegen und alles da noch mal ne Etage tiefer reinkopieren, es ändert sich die Fehlermeldung trotzdem nicht. Gibt es irgendwo ein cfg-Datei wo drin steht, wo BiaB die Instrumente sucht? Ich hab keine gefunden.

Bei mir liegen die Instrumente hier:
C:\Program Files (x86)\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2.5\Instruments\Band-in-a-Box
Band-in-a-Box (inklusive aller relevanten BIAB-Dateien) selbst liegt hier:
E:\bb
Zusätzlich liegen alle Instrumentendateien bei mir hier (sie sind halt einfacher zu finden, wenn alle an einem Ort sind):
E:\Instruments and Sounds
Innerhalb dieses Ordners gibt es dann einen Unterordner "Band-in-a-Box"
Anleitung? Ich kann mich nicht wirklich daran erinnern, aber nach der Installation hat alles irgendwie funktioniert. Vielleicht, weil ich bei der Installation selbst nicht selbst gedacht sondern nur reagiert habe. Ich ging davon aus, dass sich die Entwickler was dabei gedacht haben...

...übrigens: SampleTank kommt aus Italien. Diese Fehlermeldungen wurden also wahrscheinlich von Italienern programmiert und mit Informationen gefüttert.
Für Nicht-Informatiker: Erwartete Ereignisse in der Software generieren einen Fehlercode, entweder durch das Programmiersystem selbst oder durch die Entwickler abgefangene Ereignisse. Diese können Erfolgsmeldungen (z.B.: Wir haben alles erfolgreich abgearbeitet.) oder auch Fehlermeldungen sein (z.B.: Die Postleitzahl enthält für Deutschland unzulässige Zeichen.) Diese Ereignisse werden häufig als Zahl kodiert und in einer Datei mit mehr oder weniger verständlichen Texten gespeichert.
Dieser Fehlercode wird dann direkt oder indirekt über ein anderes Programm ausgegeben. Dabei wird eine Meldung erzeugt, die unter Umständen wie hier, ein Kästchen mit gelbem Hintergrund und schwarzem Text ist. In diesem Fall wird die Meldung aus einem italienischen "Achtung" und einer englischen Ereignisbeschreibung zusammengesetzt.

Tja, vielen Dank, aber damit komme ich noch nicht richtig weiter. Ich habe seinerzeit auch alles so installiert, wie vorgesehen (mal abgesehen von abweichenden Laufwerksbuchtstaben). Die Fehlermeldungen kommen schon von Band in a Box (die sind nämlich noch so schön old fashioned DOS like). Irgendwo muss Band in a Box diesen merkwürdigen Pfad zu den Instruments gespeichert haben. Er zeigt die Instrumente ja auch zur Auswahl an ... nur wenn ich dann eins auswähle sucht BiaB die offenbar woanders.
Noch eine Idee? Vom PG Music Support habe ich noch keine Antwort bekommen.

Servus, die Fehlermeldungen werden von BIAB nur formatiert. Die Fehlermeldungen werden von der Software, die das Softwareverhalten dokumentiert, an das Zielsystem über eine Schnittstelle weitergleitet. (Es sieht also nur so aus. Das ist so, wie wenn Dir jemand einen Auftrag gibt, etwas zu besorgen, der selbst diesen Auftrag hatte. Du gibst die Antwort "Das gab es heute nicht" an Deinen Auftraggeber. Der baut diesen Satz in seine "Fehlermeldung" an seinen Auftraggeber ein.) Die Antworten vom Support kommen manchmal, leider, erst nach ein, zwei Wochen. Was Du noch versuchen kannst, ist: a) die Instrumente auch (!) dahin stellen, wo Band-in-a-Box sie zu vermuten scheint. Du hast ja einen Pfad bekommen. b) im englischsprachigen Forum suchen, vielleicht bist Du ja mit Deiner Installation kein Einzelfall. c) BIAB auf Werkseinstellungen zurücksetzen. Ich kann hier leider nicht wirklich helfen, sondern nur Hinweise geben, weil ich diesen Fall nicht aus eigener Erfahrung kenne und auch nicht die Situation herstellen will, um ihn selbst zu erfahren.

Im englischen Userforum bin ich auf ein vergleichbares Problem gestoßen. Allerdings wusst dort keiner eine Lösung. Den von BiaB vorgeschlagenen Unterordner habe ich testeweise eingerichtet und da alles reinkopiert. Biab auf Werkseinstellungen bringt leider auch nix.

Ich habe noch ein bisschen gesucht, vielleicht hilft Dir ja das:
Wenn Du ein HiQ-Instrument in BIAB geladen hast (blaue Schrift), dann kannst Du über Plugins im Mixer-Fenster mit einem Doppelklick auf "SampleTank" SampleTank aufrufen.
Im dreigeteilten roten Bildschirm steht im rechten Fenster eine große 2 (normalerweise). Links daneben gibt es ein Schaltfeld "Prefs". In diesem Fenster kannst Du dann mit "Browse" das Verzeichnis auswählen, wo sich Deine Instrumente befinden.

- ja, als Administrator gestartet.
- im Mixer (auch unter Plugins) und in den Options tauchen in den Auswahllisten die Hi-Q-Sound ja ganz normal auf, es zeigt auch alles in den richtigen Ordner.
- ja, ich habe auch unter Pref nochmals den Ordner kontrolliert.
Trotzdem bleibt leider die Fehlermeldung und kein Hi-Q-Sound ist zu hören.

Ich habe jetzt selbst keine Phantasie mehr, was jetzt noch zu tun übrig bliebe -- außer der Radikallösung "neu installieren." Manchmal geht bei der Installation was schief.
Die Installationsroutinen von PGMusic sind sehr intelligent und Du machst nichts kaputt, wenn Du über die bestehende Installation neu installierst. Das wäre mein nächster Versuch.
Alles löschen und danach neu installieren (vorher die alte Installation in ein anderes Verzeichnis/auf eine andere Festplatte kopieren, man weiß ja nie) ist die letzte Möglichkeit, die ich sehe.
Für SampleTank auch die Authorisierungsdatei speichern -- aber bei zehn möglichen ist das vielleicht nicht so wichtig.

Ich habe nun vom Support eine Antwort. Tatsächlich raten die dringend, die BiaB-Sampletank-Instrumente aufs Standard-Laufwerk C: unter der Programmordner zu installieren, statt auf eine andere Festplatte. Das Problem ist wohl nicht ganz unbekannt und nicht so leicht zu lösen.
Blöd ist natürlich, dass ich auf meiner C: (SSD) nicht genug Platz habe. Ich habe nun die kleine Auswahl der mit BiaB mitgelieferten Sampletank-Instrumente dorthin installiert und alles flutscht. Ist aber natürlich nicht wirklich befriedigend, weil ich ja auch die ganzen zugekauften Instrumente der SampleTank-Vollversion nutzen will. Mal sehen, ob ich das nicht doch noch irgendwie hinbekomme. Der Support will sich da noch mal zu melden. Ich werds dann hier posten.

Wenn es jetzt läuft, dann ist alles gut.
Aber eine Frage bleibt jetzt bei mir offen: Ich habe alle Instrumente auf E. Einige wenige, wie die von BIAB, sind auch auf C. Warum gibt's bei mir damit bisher keine Probleme?
Wenn ich das Menü von SampleTank aufrufe, dann greift SampleTank nie auf C zu. Es holt sich die Instrumente immer von E. Vielleicht läuft da was im Hintergrund. Ich teste mal...
Ich benenne den Ordner Band-in-a-Box um in X-Band-in-a-Box.
(Es gibt da zwei davon, warum weiß ich nicht und suche jetzt auch nicht.)
Ich starte BIAB -- und das Hi-Q Instrument Acoustic Grand Piano PG läuft.
Ich mach' die Umbenennungen wieder rückgängig. Im Eifer des Gefechts vergesse ich es sonst, wenn es mal zeitlich eng wird -- und SampleTank das trotzdem irgendwann so haben muss.
