Crystal Heart

Opal clouds em-brace the stars Bursting flowers shattered vase
Clouds of mystery cloak the sun-rise Unicorns be-fore my eyes

If you're not with me I'm not here Savage shadows feed cold fear
Re-flected rainbows need you near Forever

Crystal Heart clear and shining Crystal Heart never blue
Crystal Heart warm and wondring Longing just for you

Lovers laugh and fly like doves Cold steel hides in velvet gloves
Shall we join the celebration Shiny shoes and pink carnation

If you're not with me I'm not here Savage shadows feed cold fear
Re-flected rainbows need you near For--ever

Crystal Heart clear and shining Crystal Heart never blue
Crystal Heart warm and wondring Longing just for you
Longing just for you

My 50/90 effort fizzled out after the first moth or so, did you keep going? Since I missed this one the first time around, I thought I should give a listen. Nice music and interesting storyline -- I enjoyed my morning listen.

Rich,
I read the words first, you are a poet putting his words to music.

Great stuff Rich

I agree with everything that has been said thus far, especially Alyn's poet putting music to his poetry comment.

Very nice!

My goal this weekend is to move just enough each day so that no one pokes me to see if I'm dead or not.

Hi Kevin. Thanks for the listen and comments.
I battled on to the end of 50/90 using Graheme Cochran's advice.
I think it was him. Don't try to write really good songs, just write songs.
Hopefully they will improve with time, rewrites and tweaking.
I have a hell of a lot of tweaking to do! Cheers.

Richard,

I like the sound of this. A fairly big sounding production from a very small number of instruments.

Not sure what the lyric is trying to convey - but some cool word combinations.

Hi Richard,

There are terrific phrases in the lyrics... very inspired, indeed. Things like... "clouds of mystery cloak the sunrise" .... "savage shadows" ... "cold steel hides in velvet gloves", etc. These are such fantastic images. I'm not quite sure how they relate to the whole but it's very inventive writing.

If ever you revisit this, I would try singing the lyrics against a swing style. To my ears, it sounded like you were singing in a swing 8-beat and the drums were playing an even 8-beat. I found myself wondering what it would sound like if vocal rhythm and drum rhythm matched.... I simply pass the thought on for what it's worth. Please feel completely free to ignore.

Overall... another inventive listen!

All the best,
Noel

Hi Mario. Thanks for the nice comments.
It's certainly fun to do something a bit abstract now and then. Cheers.

Hi Floyd.
Well it's feelings rather than a story. A bit abstract.
The verse and prechorus (if that's what it is) contemplate different aspects of a relationship.
With some joy and some misgivings.
The chorus reaffirms the purity and strength of the relationship. I sort of felt it being an interlude in a rock opera. The male lead singing the verse and prechorus and massive chorus and orchestra thundering the chorus. Crystal Heart is the female lead. That's about it.
Thanks for having a listen and for making me consider what it was about. Cheers.

Richard, You most certainly are a poet. Sometimes we have to look back at our creations to find deeper meanings. It's part of the magic of creative songwriting. This one has some very good lines in it. I enjoyed it. Tom
