How does RealTracks find the right scale modes for the solo?
I generated a realtrack solo for the song Round Midnight. It doesn't sound very good. I know there are some key changes. Do I have to change key for those bars? That would be a lot of work for all songs which have key changes.
Thanks, Jan R. piano: Hammond Skx Pro guitar: Ibanez LGB30 guitar amp: Boss Katana 50 MKII

Hi Jan, That's what I always do... use F5 to set the new key when a key change occurs. If you click on the link below and then go to my Soundcloud page, you'll find some sheet music for my latest song. This music was prepared in BIAB. It starts out in G and, in the bridge, moves D then A and returns to G for the final A-section. Sometimes it's possible to get away with not telling BIAB to change keys but I find it's better to include key changes as it makes bass lines and solo runs generally work better. Hope this helps, Noel

It also makes notation look better by selecting the correct enharmonic spelling of a note (for example, is it D# or Eb).

Hi Noel, nice song. The key changes in your song are clear. In Round Midnight it is unique: the key is Ebmin, but in bar 3 and 4 the progression leads to a brief key change to Ab (subdominant). This modulation provides some nice descending guide-tones.
I have not much music theory knowledge, so this key change was not noticed by me. I changed the key to Ab and back to Ebmin, but the solo part is not very nice. So I think this is too difficult for BiaB.

That's not a key change, it's just jazz. The bridge is a 2-5-1 to Bb which is the 5th of Eb. Standard stuff. The chart is in Ebm just enter the changes as written.
Now, whether or not the solo sounds good is another subject. All Real Tracks are recorded in a studio by a real player. That player has no idea what exact song you as the user are going to try to use that solo on. Therefore, some sound really good, some don't.
If you don't like an RT solo, try a different RT or switching the track to midi and use the midi solos. Many of those are very good but of course the next thing you might ask about is why doesn't the midi track sound as good as the RT? That answer to that depends on what synth you're using for your midi sounds. A good high quality synth can sound very good, a cheap one not so much.

My 2 cents. "So I think this is too difficult for BiaB."
Bring the song into RealBand. It's easier to fiddle with the solo(s).

Thanks Bob, about the player has no idea ..., I understand. So I will try some other realtrack solos and will generate them till I find the right one.
