BIAB 2015, win 7 Home Prem

I have been trying to work an export-to-audio problem out since yesterday evening as I had it planned in to 2 gigs this weekend, one being a Children In Need event, which UK folks on here will know about.

Looks like I have to abandon that part within BIAB however as I am completely scratching my head by now!

I have created a 9.5 min piece for behind a Contemporary Dance performance. It uses Exotic.sty "straight" with just a synth bass added. The voices variously "mute" and "normal" through the piece to reflect the changing choreography. Nothing is complex.

The last 40 seconds or so increases tempo by 5 bpm every 8 bars and for the last 15 seconds every 4 bars, as the choreography intensifies approaching a final resolve.

It all plays fine in BIAB, saves as sgu okay, re-opens and plays-through perfectly, and I was happy to rest it 24 hours and take a last listen afresh last night in case I wanted to make a final tweak before exporting it as audio and either burning a CD or putting an mp3 on a memory stick.

So I "exported as wav" same as always from the button on the "file" ribbon, and almost didn't bother to listen to it. But I did just to check, and what was actually exported was an audio file with no tempo changes at all just Even throughout, plus from the 9 min 8 sec point the volume suddenly dropped hugely, I'd say to one-tenth!

Good job I didn't just plug the mp3 in to the sound system and hit play and have the performance fall apart at the end when the track suddenly didn't support the rising choreography and the punch-ending, let alone be whisper-quiet for the final section! Would have been very embarrassing for everyone frown

I expect to be able to get around it easily enough for now using a different DAW or even just Audacity to recreate a form of crescendo and to restore the volume. It might even be possible to hook my laptop in and simply play it direct in BIAB, though I need to check on connectivity etc as I don’t know just now what is being provided.

But that’s not the issue. I want to fix it for tomorrow’s presentation if that’s possible, and certainly for a third and final outing next Wednesday evening.

I have tried closing BIAB down and relaunching, have tried closing the computer down and restarting. I have BIAB on an external HD so have also tried installing it on my C drive to see if somehow that made it ok. No change with any.

I have tried exporting the separate tracks independently so I could recombine them if they were okay in isolation, but all were affected exactly the same.

I have exported as other audio file formats, still no change in tempo, still volume-drop.

I have exported via File > Export Song As Audio > Export As, no difference.

Does the same in RB too, plays fine but exports broken!

So it appears there’s something stopping BIAB exporting what it plays how it plays it. Mute and restore is fine, some formatting is active like “a” and “b” parts at part markers, but not changes in tempo.

Plus it just cuts volume from 10 to 1, which doesn’t even coincide with any other instruction-point so doesn’t seem to be two conflicting instructions butting heads.

Has anyone had this problem and worked it out? Or can someone more expert suggest something I maybe am just not aware of that needs to be checked is set correctly in order for BIAB to “see” tempo/volume formatting on exporting?

Any thoughts or useful guidance would be very appreciated.

EDIT:

Just "Returned to factory settings", also checked for update ... still exports audio without tempo changes, and cuts volume same.

Head > Brick Wall!
