Good price, so I checked out the online manuals, e.g. the Quick Start manual.

It wasn't very quick and I wouldn't know how to even get started; sure looked complicated.

Additionally, the manuals from European companies are always in multiple languages and I couldn't figure out how to print the English version. lol

Percy, I have been working with Behringer products for 15 years and presently own about 20 pieces of their gear. I have found their manuals to be exceptionally well written and easy to understand. Sometimes, though, it is best to have the equipment in hand and either plugged in or connected to a PC for maximum clarity.

I could walk you through the print deal on Skype or over the phone.

Please don't let this pre-purchase experience put you off. The worst you could do would be to buy it and return it. In fact, I recommend doing just that. I believe that you will be pleased and satisfied in the end.

Richard

Well - if you considered this interface and haven't pulled the trigger yet - this seems also like a good deal on a product from a more renowned company. I can't say whether one is better than the other - maybe someone else can.

Behringer vs. Focusrite?

No brainer.

Of course, you could wait till next year when Uli Behringer copies the Scarlett. grin

The Scarlett 2i2 has been for sale for roughly $100 for several years, including at your local Best Buy. This is precisely why you will find loads of them on your local Craigslist.

This unit from Behringer IS their version of what the Scarlett 2i2 is, for 1/2 price.

It's not a copy however - Behringer doesn't really have an inherent need to do that any longer.

BTW, something not discussed here - Behringer also now owns TC Electronic, TC Helicon, Midas, Lake Audio, Bugera, Tannoy. Well, it's covered under a big holding company called Music Group, of which I'm 90% sure is owned by Uli Behringer and others.

Plenty of legitimate intellectual property to mine in those companies to build into their low-cost line.

How did they get to the money to purchase all of these companies - see 90 dB's posts.

It's my opinion that they really don't have an incentive to outright copy other products like they did or supposedly did for 'lawsuit' products as in the past.

For the record, my current audio/midi interface is a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8. I also own a Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro, and a Behringer V-Amp 2.

My favorite lower cost audio company of the past several years is however, Zoom - whom I believe to be responsible for outstanding for innovative, cost effective products. I love my Zoom G5 amp simulator/multi-fx processor and I also use a Zoom B3 bass amp simulator/multi-fx which makes my crummy cheapo bass sound like a couple thousand bucks!

That's great. Now Uli can copy himself! laugh

I'm far from a gear snob. I use mid-level gear, being unable to afford top of the line stuff. However, whenever possible, I try not to deal with thieves. grin

I've been using a Yamaha Audiogram 6 for several years with Biab and have not had one problem with it, otherwise I would also buy the Behringer Unit. I'm a fan of Behringer and have used a couple of their mixers in the past that worked very well.

The unit on sale is a great price for the Hi Def ability alone.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hello All,

I'm the original poster and want to thank everyone for their insightful comments and especially Richard for his generous offer of assistance-
if I need it.

Ended up buying the Behrenger today. The Scarlett received some great reviews;
just didn't want to pay twice the price. I'm cheap. lol

Good choice! I am quite pleased with the Behringer gear I have purchased and the lower prices have allowed me to save money (that I usually end up spending on other gear!)

and regarding that Gibson ES-335...indeed I would love one but they start around $3,100 list while the clones can be had SO MUCH CHEAPER!

https://reverb.com/blog/thirteen-335s-under-1300-dollars

there was a time many years ago when I would have avoided clones and especially those from China but nowadays the Chinese are producing some amazing quality guitars and quite frankly, that ES-335 is no longer worth $3,100+ (at least not to me!)

Guys,

I just realized that I had overlooked a feature lacking from the Behringer interface: a dedicated MIDI connection. There is no DIN jack, and only one USB port for the computer connection. Could this be addressed with a USB hub? I don't know. I am very sorry if anyone is inconvenienced by my oversight.

Merry Christmas, and damn the torpedoes!

Richard

Ryszard, not as big of a deal as in the past. Sometimes you can get the audio only usb device to work alongside your midi usb device. If not, then you can use them one at a time.

I contacted Behringer about the lack of MIDI and they told me of the UMC204HD, which has 5-pin DIN connectors and two more analog audio outs than the 202. It lists for $199.95, but is selling at Sweetwater and elsewhere for $79.95.
