Just typed in that old well known Waylon Jennings "Good hearted woman" song and nothing came up.

Kinda surprised as I am sure I saw many matches for that song in the past in the style memo on the stylepicker.

Musiclover, I tried it in 2015 Everything Pak for Windows and found 4 different styles.

If the problem persists, try Return To Factory Settings. If still no joy, reinstall the software.

Be certain that you are in Style Picker, not Song Picker.

when you don't get results, check your typing for errors. Don't ask how I know this. ;-(

>> I still have 2015 and style picker found 15 styles for Good Hearted Woman

You can still find those styles in 2016, but its better as they show up as you type them .

The song title to style feature knows of about 7,000 songs, suprisingly Good Hearted Woman isn't there, but "Good Ol' Boys" is, and lots of other similar ones.

2016 is way better in this regard, because it shows you the styles sorted from best to worst (closest to set tempo, genre, feel), in 2015 it just listed them alphabetically.

So this makes me think that maybe BIAB users could make suggestions as to songs mapped to particular styles to be incorporated into the database to update and expand the library.

Just a thought...

+1 I'd like to see that feature, particularly for jazz tunes.

That's an excellent idea John! We could build a database like User Tracks! I wonder of there is a way to edit the file Peter is referring too?

I've had the same thought. I have found the ability to attach my own choice of song name to a style by editing a style feature but the only change I may be making is adding a song suggestion memo. This works but also increases my number of styles to deal with and if I were to do this to the four thousand plus styles, it seems to me I would have a style management issue.

I think I read in an earlier post that we cannot just add to the song suggestion memo because we will lose our custom added data when styles are updated since the PGMusic style will revert back to the original data.

I've begun an external spreadsheet but would love to see a place within BIAB we could access an external spreadsheet matching styles with additional songs.

I think I'll develop a proposal for the wishlist...

That's funny that Good Hearted Woman by Waylon was used as a style search.... some time back, I was searching for a style that was close to Waylon's 4 on the floor country beat/style..... I came up empty handed and ended up recording the project, a co-write with another Sonar user, as a no-BB song. It turned out good.

I'll need to look into that because another buddy wants me to record his original tune in my studio. I've let it set for several years now because I couldn't find a suitable style and, more importantly, he never got back with me to come and work on it even after reminding him a few times...... oh well....

It seemed that for a great while, everyone here in NC who was fancying themselves to be country song writers were all writing with that Waylon signature stomp style.

I think I still have my buddy's song on the DAW or the lappy.... thought I saw it the other day while searching for something else.

I have good results testing the new song-based picker. Somebody has been working hard to create that database. I too was surprised that "Good Hearted Woman" did not work. I am sure that PGM is continuing to work to make the database useful.

It seems odd that 'Good Hearted Woman' is listed as an example in the style description for some styles, but not in the song database.

You would think it might be possible to migrate the example of songs in styles in the old stylepicker into the new song data base, or maybe its not that easy, the programmers would have to go through each style one by one.

Now if there was an batch automatic way of doing it, it sure would be great.
