Is it possible to modify a Real Instrument track into something I like? For instance. Say I like a fiddle track but it doesn't play the way I want it to play, could I re-do the midi that controls that track and save it as a user track?

Since I play a guitar like someone who doesn't play a guitar grin I'd like to create a midi track and get a real instrument to follow that track. Saves time.

Thanks again Tobin for the work you do there. It really helps us users.

If you mean can you use midi to direct a soft synth instrument to create the audio for a UserTracks the answer is yes.

You create a Usertrack by matching the name of an audio file and SGU song file together. BiaB and RB read the SGU file for key signature, tempo, feel and chords contained in the audio file. For instance if the sgu file indicates bar 5 has a "C" chord held for the whole bar then whenever the song you are making needs a C chord for 4 beats (one bar) then play the audio contained in the location of bar 5 of the UserTrack audio file.

The key point is BiaB and RB are not listening to or interpeting the UserTrack audio file. The programs are taking the identifying information you programmed into the UserTrack sgu file at face value. That means the programs do not care about what you use to create the UserTrack audio file. The only requirement is the UserTrack sgu file chordsheet and the UserTrack audio file must match or the UserTrack will not playback correctly.

Let's say you have an awesome sounding B3 VSTi emulation that runs in Kontakt. You create a Usertrack sgu file chordsheet that has a "C" in bar 1, "F" in bar 2 and a "G" in bar 3 with the UserTrack key signature of "C" and tempo of 100 bpm. Then you insert Kontakt as a VSTi into your daw, load the B3 emulation then record the VSTi plying a "C", " F" and "G" for 4 beats at 100 bpm. Name the UserTrack sgu file something like "b3_cfg.sgu" and the audiotrack as "b3_cfg.wav" then place both files into a folder called "B3_chords_100" and you have a small, but functional, UserTrack.
