Just tried to render a song to mp3, got an out of bounds exception error and biab2016 froze up solid, had to kill it with the task manager.

Rendering to .wav works fine so not a big deal, I can easily convert to mp3 after the fact.

Anyone else seeing this?

no, actually I was pleased to see that on my test computer convert to MP3 worked great... better than on my music computer.

Which leads me to point out the fact that the MP3 export requires you to have an encoding codec installed on your computer (to my knowledge, the translation isn't built into BIAB)

If this same PC hosted BIAB prior to ver 2016, and it was able to export to MP3, maybe you need to tell BIAB the path to the codec. (I'm not at my BIAB computer at the moment, so I can't tell you the steps)

On the other hand, if you installed to a PC that has never exported to MP3 from within BIAB before, you may just need to DL and install a codec.

disclaimer: none of the above guarantees there isn't something else going on to cause the exception.. it's just a good place to start looking

I've had a lot of BIAB crashes when exporting to mp3.

I just learned to NOT using the mp3 export within the program.

Well, it is certainly not a show stopper, it is not a problem for me to convert to mp3 after the wav is rendered.

But! If some additional codec is required to be able to render to mp3, the render to mp3 option should be grayed out if it is not available. Having a program freeze that requires the program manager to kill it is not good behaviour IMHO.

Posting the error message or at least the number and which Module it occurred in can be a big help to support.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

BlueAttitude,

(great nick by the way!)...

I've found that sometimes a freeze means that a dialogue box is open behind the main window. If this happens again, it would be worth trying ALT+Tab to see if you can scroll to that box (if it exists).

Regards,
Noel

Thanks for the tip, Noel! I didn't know you could do that. I see you are on soundcloud too, I will be over shortly to have a listen smile

rharv, I should have mentioned when it generated the error it also generated a page full of diagnostic information with the option to email it to support, which I did.

I just bought and installed BIAB 2016 on my laptop. Trying to save as MP3 froze BIAB requiring it to be killed with the Task Manager. I use Adobe Audition CS6 to create MP3 files but I assume this doesn't mean that BIAB should be able to use that same codec.

Can anyone recommend an MP3 codec that would work well with BIAB 2016 on Windows 7/64?

Thanks, Huertaaj

I getting the same error so I am pretty sure there is a problem. I burn MP3's out of Sonar all the time without any problems and I have purchased a mp3 codec.

The most irritating thing is the freezing of the program. This release has been pretty unstable for me personally. I am running a i7 with 12 megs of Ram so I don't think that is a problem. Running latest update and I let BIAB load to default folders. Do I need to reload everything off of the USB drive instead of using downloads? Running Windows 10 with latest updates. Could that be a problem?

Anyway I hope they can get it fixed.

Thanks,

Terry
