I agree; I understand the reason why drums tracks are different from other tracks (e.g. General MIDI drums need to be on channel 10; although a VSTi based drum kit should be able to use any channel), and that drums don't respond to chord changes, I still don't see why any track couldn't be a drum/percussion track. As long as you flag it as such, it should be able to respond.

There is no reason (that I can see) that you couldn't concurrently have a RealDrum track, a general MIDI drum track, and a VSTi enabled drum track (I'm thinking something like JamStix, and with the clock issues fixed...hint hint). Of course, that's three out of the limited number of tracks you have, but still...
