Thanks Mario. I mean it more as, it simply eliminates any non key notes, leaving only the notes in that key.

I'm not certain how useful this would be. It is far from uncommon to have a passing note that is outside the nominal key of the song. Particularly if you have a key change that is not notated but rather handled by a few accidentals because it only lasts a few bars. Then there's the very common use of chromatic runs.
