When you mentioned the voicelive is working, but on a different channel than the one you chose... it reminded me of another piece to the puzzle. BIAB has its own "standardized" MIDI channel setup, a carryover from the pre-real track days when people needed a way to make multiple projects always send the same instruments to the same MIDI channels. I'm not sure what the hierarchy is in BIAB, whether these channels override channels you declare elsewhere or not... but it's something to be aware of. You may see something in this that explains unexpected MIDI channel activity.
