My understanding is that BiaB will first look for WAV files, and it finds them uses them, otherwise it looks for the compressed files.

Prior to 2010, the freeze feature rendered the whole arrangement to the audio track. In later versions, freeze feature doesn't do this, and presumably it stores 'indexes' to all of the variations that make up the song, and reconstructs on the fly. If that is the case, then it would reconstruct the song using the Audiophile files. Somebody else might know for sure.

If you know a style that uses a particular RealTrack, find the RealTracks folder containing the .wma and the .wav files, and temporarily rename the .wma files, then play the song. If it needs the .wma you'll surely get an error. If it plays, it's using the wav files.
