1) Chord Chart
When I have marked a certain cell in the chord chart and press the “notation button”, I used to get the corresponding bar in e.g. the melody display, in chorus 1. Now I get to all kind of places in the melody, but never in the corresponding bar. This is of course not while the tune is paying!
2) Chord Cart
I have always (also in BB 2015 and earlier versions) had difficulties to enter “slash chord” in a bar cell directly, so I have to change to the “chord entry” display. In BB 2016 I can see my entry while I am typing, but as soon as I press enter (or the move to the right button, I do not get an error response, but the “cursor" is moving to the next cell (or bar), without the newly entered chord showing up, so I have again to use the “chord setting” display.
In the “New Features and New Real Tracks” video there is a demonstration of entering slash chords directly, just the way I want to do.
Why cannot I enter these chords directly in the chord chart? Tonnie

I don't have either of the problems you describe. Maybe you can try "Return to Factory Settings" or call PG for help. They provide excellent customer service. Ray

About the slash chords, I wonder if there is an issue with a different language keyboard?

Foreign language keyboards work o.k. BUT ...
... you need to know which key is which.
So far PGMusic does ignore foreign keyboard layouts. By behavior of BIAB/RB I detect that the programs identify which key on the keyboard is pressed and translate that to the US keyboard layout.

In textfields the German keyboard layout works alright.
To enter chords one needs to know a little: Shift 3 is § but in the chords field it results in # # results in / Shift 6 is & but in the chords field it results in â red or green ^ (wider than this one) The ^ on the German keyboard pressed once doesn't do anything visible, pressed twice it is ^^ in standard coloring. Shift ^ is ° and results in ° (If entered by itself. In conjunction with something else like A or M for example the result is A\ or M\) + results in +
I didn't yet set my keyboard to the US layout, but might do so in the next couple of days just for test purposes.

My keyboard layout is “Scandinavian” (Danish/Swedish/Norwegian), so that might be the reason I always have had trouble to enter a slash chord.
However, the slash is situated on the 7-key, which I think I the international standard.

In my case, when I enter chords in BIAB, the slash is on the #-key on the German keyboard layout, which is the third key to the right of the L-key.
For regular use, like entering text Shift-7 is /.

For what it's worth, I use a US layout keyboard and the slash character is located on the key shown below. It's the lower, non-shift character.

I did some tests. The US keyboard layout is quite different than that what Tonnie and I have.
I cannot enter several of the glyphs that are on the US keyboard. I hadn't use for them until now. But for what it's worth I, and probably many others in foreign countries with their localized keyboard layout, would prefer to receive a # when I press #. Having to press § to receive # is not a good solution.

I suspect part of this "mess" is because in the early days of BIAB when it ran on an Atari ST, to speed up entry, the shift key was optional. Shift-3 gave a '#' symbol, so BIAB let you use 3 (without the shift) to get the same character.
Something seems to have changed for 2016 that has broken this "strange" mapping of keys. I guess they didn't have enough odd keyboards to test it all on.
Regards

This isn't the first time a discussion about international keyboard differences has arisen. If I were a software company, I'd find it hard to keep up. Anyway, all this needs to be brought to the attention of Support, which you said you have done.

Well, Matt, new revisions of a keyboard layout occur much more seldom than software updates. I bet there is an interface to the keyboard layout sitting somewhere around, and as I wrote, in any entry field in BIAB or RB the glyphs on the screen correspond with the glyphs on the keyboard -- except the chords area.
I really suspect that there is something hard coded in the program in more than one place. This hard coded stuff makes it extremely difficult to maintain and modify.
I suspect to be hard coded . . and a reason File structure . . . . . . . . . . . 1. max number of bars, 2. name of style Track designators . . . . . . . . Entering accompaniment modifications with "." still require the old b,p,d,g,s..., e.g. F7.g Chord entry keystrokes . . . . Program reacts differently compared to text entry (shows other glyphs or none at all)

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
