I have just purchased the JAZZ VOLUME 12....superb in every way.

I have been more of a strings man to date but the absolutely brilliant
Horn Section, Background Crooner Big Band, #2593, Jim Clark, knocked me sideways.

Can any one tell me what instruments form this set up to make this Horn Section?

Thanks in advance.

I agree with you. The RT's this year are outstanding.

Thanks. I agree, the horn section sounds fantastic, thanks to Jim Clark's fabulous playing. All the real instruments of course - no MIDI.
Jim plays all nine instruments - amazing multi-instrumentalist! You can find out more about Jim here: http://www.realsax.com/

There are 9 instruments:
- 5 saxes (2 alto, 2 tenor, 1 bari)
- 3 trumpets
- 1 flute

You can hear the Crooner BigBand demos, and other RealTracks demos here
http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=324338#Post324338

You can hear a demos of all the big band instruments separately here:

(search for RealTracks Set 236 or search for crooner)

Wow! Thank you so much for the kind words about my arranging/playing. It was a lot of fun to write/play in this style! Kudos to Peter Gannon for his continued commitment to keep expanding/improving Band-in-a-Box, and his entire team (Thanks Tobin Frank and programmers!) for making it happen.

I hope you users enjoy this style as much as I do!
I was particularly pleased to use the colors of trumpets with cup mutes as well as the harmon mute trumpet/flute combo.

I do have a four trumpet horn section throughout much of this style - probably some of you already noticed.
Have fun making music!

Hi...
YES, the horn section is marvelous.
I am wondering, though, why the notation for the horn track
only slightly correlates with what I'm hearing.
What I'm hearing is EXCELLENT, mind you, but I'd love to see
a bit more correspondence between audio and visual...if it's user error,
just let me know!
Thanks...

My understanding is that the notation is manually transcribed from the played song. There are exceptions, in particular for instruments that were played on a MIDI keyboard, the notation is exact. But in this case, the transcription may not correlate with exactly what was played.

I understand, but what I'm seeing is often vastly different from what I'm hearing

Hi Jim
You are correct, but this issue (wrong notation) was fixed in a recent patch.

You should download it and install it, and the problem should be solved, and the notation should look perfect.

"Improved: Crooner Big Band RealTracks are enhanced, and the RealCharts are now fully accurate."

There are four trumpets, played either open,or with cup or harmon mutes. Five saxes - two altos, two tenors, baritone sax, and flute.

So this is all you Jim? Good job man. I play piano in a big band among other things and you sound great.

Thank you , Bob! Yes, that's me on all the horns. Nothing like the sound of a big band! Have fun with your big band (and Band-In-A-Box, of course)!
