While looking for alternative Sound Canvases, to my present Roland SD-50, I found a discontinued model called Edirol/Roland SD-80. I also found that there are drivers available.
Lately I have found that the SD-50 cannot cope with playing back some of my more complicated BB arrangements, while the SD-80 offers 32 parts, the instrument has 128-voice polyphony (though some sounds use more than one voice per note) and incorporates sound sets based on 1050 individual tones plus 30 drum sets.
Has anyone some first-hand experience with the SD-80, please let me know.
Strangely, I found no SD-80 on eBay, but luckily, I found a used one locally.

I had an Edirol (by Roland) SD-80 for many years. I loved it. It was my first good hardware MIDI synth.
Polyphony was a strong point. I never had limit problems in BIAB.
I believe driver support stopped awhile ago, not sure which version of Windows but it's clearly listed on the Roland site. You won't be able to go to Windows 10.

AGAIN - nothing prevents going to Windows 10!
With respect to the sound generation capabilities (aka as a MIDI soudn module) the SD-80 has two (2) 5-pin MIDI ins and and outs.
While BIAB only supports ONE port (so only ONE MIDI out = only 16 channels/parts but still get full 128 voice polyphony) RealBand supports multiple ports (so can use both 16 channel MIDI ins on SD-80 and get all 32 parts).
Yes, if you insist on using ONLY USB connections to your PC then finding a driver could be a problem

Yes, I remember this helpful reminder that I've seen several times in response to my comments. I continue to point out the driver/OS problem because on all these Roland units, there are stand-alone programs to load, change and save system sounds. Those programs cannot work without a USB connection. The USB connection cannot work without a supported driver. The synth works fine on MIDI but the functionality is crippled. Can we agree on that?

OK - agreed: Works but IT IS crippled. I'll even admit it may require user sweat equity and ingenuity to maximize its functionality in that environment. Larry BTW has anyone actually TRIED the Win 8.1 drivers in Win10 (yes, supposedly the supplied exclusive SW won't work but the HW drivers MIGHT) PS: Matt, hope your Integra7 is not at risk at next OS release (2025?)

Ha! Boy, I hope so.
I traded up from a Roland Fantom XR to the Integra7 on my main production PC, but I am still using the Fantom XR and its Windows 7 Fantom driver in Windows 10 on the PC at my camp. Works fine.
