I've reported this to support but I haven't gotten any good answers. the 2016 RealBand hangs and pauses frequently for me. Sometimes the pause can be as long as 30 seconds. It's usually about 5 seconds. I'm on Windows 10 and run it from the USB drive.
One solution suggested from support was to reinstall so that the program is on my hard drive. i might do this, but Realband 2015 never had this issue and I ran it from the USB drive, as well.
Anyone seeing this problem, too? I'm on Windows 10.

Nope... I'm running the same way, but my OS is XP Pro 32.
So far so good.

Perhaps your computer is letting a background task interfere with the operation of BiaB. Run the Win 10 version of Task Manager and have it display the list of processes. Click on the column label named CPU and it will order the list of processes by how much cpu time each process is using. Idle is normally top of the list. BBW.exe should be next. The list order changes as processes turn on and off. Whatever jumps between idle and bbw is the interfering process. Most of the time it will be something like virus protection or print spooler.

thanks jim. that makes sense. My task manager lists the programs alphabetically but it's easy to tell which ones are using the CPU. I found a video on how to set priorities for programs in task manager and I changed BIAB and RealBand from normal to above normal. I can still take them up to high, if needed. Hoping that fixes everything. i can also lower a priority on any program that I find hogging the CPU.

YouTube is indeed a wonderful thing. It seems you can do a search for almost anything you can imagine and somebody, somewhere, has posted a video about it.
I hope you'll update the post once everything is sorted out and working properly.

If been testing RealBand and giving it a higher priority doesn't do much. The main program that shows up as active above Realband when it goes to sleep is System Idle at a very large percent like 80.
Perhaps the only answer for 2016 is for me to reinstall so that BIAB and RealTracks are running on the C drive. They worked fine on the USB drive in 2015.
I'm a bit gun shy about reinstalling because everything works. Has anybody ever done a reinstall of BIAB and RealTracks? Do I need to delete anything first?

Hi Larry, Yes, I've reinstalled BIAB and Realband a few times. In your case I think you could actually copy all of your files from the USB drive to your C drive. You may then need to change your shortcuts so they point to the new location. This wouldn't technically be a reinstall, more like a file move. I've done a similar thing where I copied all of my BIAB and Realband directories to an external hard drive while keeping all of the original files on my C: drive. I could launch BIAB or Realband from either location just by selecting the correct shortcut.

Larry,
What are you computer specs... RAM, CPU speed, etc?
Also, have you tried excluding the x:\bb (where x: is the drive that holds \bb) from your antivirus checker? (Jim touched on this above.) That often speeds things up a bit.
Regards, Noel

I would try going into device manager, and changing the setting that allows USB ports to go to sleep after a certain amount of time.
Go into Device Manager, navigate down to Universal Serial Bus controllers. On each USB Root Hub item, right-click and choose Properties. Click on the Power Management tab and un-check the box for Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
May not solve your problem, but since you are running RealBand from the USB drive, it might help.

thanks for the great suggestions. I'll give 'em a try. Kent from the helpdesk suggested changing my MME device so it's not the microsoft sound mapper. I've done that but I haven't been in Realband to try it out, yet.
My config is
Windows 10 8G memory dual core AMD Athalon II 260 CPU 640G hard drive

Windows 10 8G memory dual core AMD Athalon II 260 CPU 640G hard drive I think Kent meant to change it IN Realband. Pref-Audio-Drivers button. This selects what Realband is using. If you changed them while not already in Realband I'm not sure what you changed.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

I changed the MME driver and there was no improvement, but running RB from my hard disk solves the problem. I took the suggestion of just copying the RealBand file from my USB drive to the C drive and making a new shortcut. it works great. I'll just have to remember to copy it again when I download product updates.
thanks everyone.

I just purchased BIAB 2016, sat down to get started and the program hangs incessantly, so I have to repeatedlycancel through task manager. was hoping to get some work done today but no way - not a happy bunny!

Raddy, mine gives me a "Real Band has stopped working" message about 4-5 times per hour and I have to restart. VERY aggravating and nobody seems to know how to fix it. All I get is the same generic newbie crap about resetting to default, which I am simply not going to do every time it hangs. No other software on the planet requires me to "reset to default". They need to fix this.
