Version 2016 (429)
Trying to turn off display of lyrics layer. Unclicking "layers" does this for the song currently loaded, but this state or preference is not applied to the next song, nor is it saved for the song loaded. Anyone know any other way to turn off or delete lyrics?

I had the same issue with the initial 2016 release, but the latest update (Build 429) fixed it. You might want to check the Opts/Pref/ Global Overrides setting .. Set "Convert line-based lyrics to bar-based lyrics" to NEVER.

Thanks PJ, but those solutions don't seem to be working for me. I'm running Build 429 and did a fresh re-boot just to make sure nothing was lingering. Changed the Override just as you suggested. Still have to kill the lyrics / layers for every file each time I open them.
I use BIAB live and don't sing so no need for lyrics. One thing that may be different is I use the Audiophile version.
Any and all other ideas sincerely appreciated.

Also -- now that I have a few minutes to explore further, some of my files have lyrics, thus I have the issue above, and some have no lyrics. When I load a file with with no lyrics (at least none are displayed) about half those files cause the annoying green box to come up suggesting the file has line-based lyrics ... etc.

Pretty sure the Audiophile version only pertains to the RealTracks and not the executable. In my case, the latest build just eliminated the problem. I had posted previously on the issue, indicating that lyrics display (or lack thereof) should be a global "and sticky" option.

The latest update patch (build 430) has a new menu item added: Edit > Lyrics > "Erase Bar-Based Lyrics"That will erase all the bar-based lyrics in your song, so the Lyrics layer will not automatically open the next time you open the song. If that is what you are trying to do, you can view/download the new update patch here: http://nn.pgmusic.com/pgfiles/support/patches/bb2016_update_build430.exe

I have the same problem. I don't want to permanently erase any lyrics. I just never want them to open at all, ever! But, at the same time, I might change my mind at some point, so I don't want them erased - just not loaded until I change my mind.
So, how do we tell BIAB to NOT load lyrics until we change our minds?

All the settings in the layers menu are not behaving as they should.
On build 430, Win 10 64, when I go into Chord display/Layers and untick either section text or bar lyrics, the ticks return without action by me, even if I save the song.
If I turn on Roman numerals, then save the file, when I open again they are turned off.
Also a yellow box, comes up talking about returning to concert pitch.
It would be good to be able to pin these messages, as if you don't get to them immediately, they disappear and cannot be read at all.

So, how do we tell BIAB to NOT load lyrics until we change our minds? Yes, the saved state isn't being saved (if that makes sense!) I untick to not see the lyrics layer, save it, and the darn things reappear when I reload the song. John
