I Gave It All

Verse 1
Love came to me
As I was
I could not go to Him
Yet He came to me

Verse 2
He spoke to me
Gentle words
Come follow me today
And I’ll set you free

I gave it all
He cleansed me
Gave me life again
So that I’m free not to sin

Verse 3
Now I can hear
When He calls
His voice I know and I’m sure
He’s always near

Repeat Chorus

Repeat Verse 3

Good composition on this, nice choice of realtracks, good vocals, and pro sounding mix.

Enjoyed the listen!

Sonny (and Daniel),

Beautiful! The production on this is gorgeous. Mix, too! The pads are excellent. The piano nestled in perfectly.

Daniel's vocals are beautiful (harmonies, too).

Excellent write. Cool chord progressions...

One of your best!

Obviously, you are done with this... but for future thought...
The very beginning of the song seems "abrupt" (just slightly). The first notes of the guitar solo are REALLY nice. If you could mute the pad (and drums? maybe) until the 3rd note the guitar plays so they come in "more naturally"??? (or something to that effect...). Not to take away from how nice everything in this is...

What do we like?

- the cool idea of building the lyric around Biblical verses

- the production -- everything shines -- perfect soundstage

- the RT selection

- the vocals

Reckon that about covers it smile

Hi Sonny,

great composition. I like the chord progression.
The vocals are awesome, especially the harmonies and the
aah choir. You chose really fitting RTs. Brent is my
favourite anyway.
I enjoyed my several listens a lot.

Sonny,

I tried to listen to this a couple of weeks ago but Soundclick was being uncooperative at the time and I couldn't get it to work properly. Tonight it behaved.

Wow! This is such a beautiful sound.... great chords, great harmony, wonderful vocals. Like J & B, the idea of using biblical verses appealed. I'm also a huge fan of the AABA format. Another top notch effort for the SRP songbook.

Regards,
Noel

A beautiful song. Great production and performance. Brilliant use of the inspirational Biblical verses.

Enjoyed my listen.

Quick fix tip for the abrupt start: Open your master file in any DAW (even Audacity will work well) and fade in the opening. It will smooth the intro.

Thanks Charlie for your kind words and for the intro tip. I have used that technique before but it just didn't dawn on me this time around.

Sonny,

Loved this one! Mr. Hensley sounds a lot like Josh Groban to me, and he's one of my favorite singers. Very lush, great mix. Loved this one.

Bob

Thanks Bob, your comments are very appreciated. It's strange that you would mention that Daniel sounds a lot like Josh Groban for Josh happens to be one of his favorite singers. I personally think that Josh has some of the best sound tracks out there for his kind of music. I took one them (because I liked it so much) and made a Christian song out it. Now I will have to pay royalties to use it (glad to do it).
