I have not been on the forum for a while for several reasons. This summer has been a bussy time besides taking care of my family, playing on some festivals a.s.o. But the bigest problem has been my computer. It started to behave in strange ways (and I am sure it was not a virus) and finaly I had to "clean" it completely and start up again from zero.
Since I am not a spesialist on this I had great help from my son who was home in the summer hollyday.
No it is back to where I want it to be (well, close to) but I want to make sure it dont happen again if disater struck. So I bought the Nero Ghost 14,0 so I can make a "clone" of my computer on an external hard drive.

I have Norton Ghost 10.0 - 14.0 can only be easier.

Install the programme to your internal hard drive by running the CD. It should auto-boot the install programme as soon as your CD drive recognises it. Then follow the Wizard. It is so easy.

Good luck

But as allways there is many ways to do things, and a LOT of written words in the manual, and since English is not my mother language it confuses more than it helps me.

This is what I want to do: I want to make a MANUAL cloning of my computer (make a "clone") to an external hard drive so I can recover my computer exacly like it was before disaster struck. (I am speaking of the programs, the song and documents I backup to the external hard drive in "The old way")

Is there anyone out there who can "guide" me in the folloving three things:

Make a clone of my computer on an external hard drive.

Make a recovery disk so I can "restore" my computer if disaster struck.

and:
Tell me how I test the recovery disk to be sure everything work.

Ignore the manual, you don't need it. Just run the programme like I told you and use the Wizard. Tell it you want to backup to a USB drive and it will. Use the 'full' option (as opposed to 'partial') and it will make a complete backup of the whole of your hard drive.

No need to make a recovery disk - the CD is the recovery disk

The programme will also tell you when it has successfully completed the backup (with verification if necessary but that takes much longer)
