For those interested, Melodyne 4 is out. For a limited time, you can upgrade from Melodyne Editor to Melodyne 4 Studio for $149 or to the new Melodyne 4 Editor for $99.

Upgrades from Melodyne Essential and Melodyne Assistant cost progressively more.

I upgraded to Studio 4 for $125.99 USD at audiodeluxe:
http://audiodeluxe.com/products/celemony-melodyne-editor-melodyne-4-studio-upgrade

You must register with them but they are usually the lowest priced software around. I have purchased a number of items from them with no problems.

You will get a serial number then you have to log on to Celemony to complete the DL and activation. This is a very simple process.

Life is short so make sure you spend as much time as possible on the Internet arguing with strangers.

Sweet! I was thinking of upgrading Editor to Studio at the Celmony site for $149. If I can save more $$$, awesome. Thanks for the share.

Thanks, John!

I chose to go from my 2009 Melodyne Editor to the next-to-highest, the Melodyne 4 Editor. This is basically a direct one-to-one feature upgrade and cost $99. I need the polyphonic editing but only for one track at a time.

The full Melodyne Studio offers the incredible ability to see the whole project - multiple tracks - at once. Amazing stuff, and for only $149 upgrade.

I only have essential which works fine for me. The upgrade price to more advanced versions is a bit on the high side for what I use it for. I guess I will stick with what I got.

Also, If you have Sonar Platinum (not sure about lower levels), I just received a message that you'll get the Melodyne 4 Essentials upgrade bundled with an upcoming update.

Matt

if you do it over at Audio Deluxe it's only $83.99 (save $15 - unless Celemony sends out a similar discount email soon)

I'm debating doing that or the upgrading Editor 2 to Studio 4 for $125 as Mario mentioned

Thanks too John for the heads-up on this. I have Melodyne 2 with Sonar Platinum. I just checked and have been offered a free update to 4 which states: "The free update to Melodyne 4 essential offers you important new functions and improvements."

Well, there's no such thing as a free lunch, but I guess I'm going for it.

I upgraded from the editor to the studio version for the $125 price, great deal. This version has tempo detection that is almost unreal. Noel posted on Cakewalk last night they will be adding code to interface more with this feature. What this means is you can freely record without a click or metronome and line up all the instruments to it very easy. It works fantastic.
Also the sound editor is just unreal you can adjust the EQ of just a single note!!! Change the harmonics or overtones of the sound. Copy the tone of another instrument and paste them into another. It is quite something for sound design.

For most folks working in home hobby studios who want good vocal tracks, I'm of the opinion that the essentials version of Melodyne is generally sufficient.

A little pitch correction on a solo track and maybe move a note or two to fix timing issues... Essentials works fine.

I loved the quote I saw while reading through the site.... more like skimming.... "nail the vibe and the groove then let melodyne fix the pitch and timing issues"..... or something to that nature.

I've been saying for years that using melodyne properly is totally transparent, and this illustrates it. I've challenged people to point out where I have used it in a song and no one takes that challenge. Used properly, no one can tell where you used it because it doesn't alter the feel, the emotion, the groove or the spirit in the music.... just the pitch and timing. That's what makes this such a great and useful tool for home studios as well as the pros.

Between this and Ozone.... you have my 2 favorite plugs. Both are amazing.

edit to add: I have the Melodyne Editor.... version 2 I think.... it's full poly. I have used it a time or two to fix a piano chord or a guitar chord with a wanky note in it... for full disclosure, there was still some engineering work that was needed to make the version I have more useful in the poly mode. I tended to use it mainly to remove the notes I didn't want as opposed to "fixing" those notes by sliding them up or down. Perhaps in the years since my version, the new flagship has resolved those sorts of issues. I'm sure that German guy with the beard has been hard at work on it.

I have a really old version of Melodyne Cr8 3.2.2.2

Does anyone know if this qualifies for an upgrade of any kind?

Thanks! I've been searching but didn't find anything yet.

When you look at the lineup of music apps, there's so much of the same thing with a different name attached. But every now and then somebody comes along with a truly innovative concept, and Melodyne is one of those products (BIAB is another!)

The guy who thought up Melodyne is an amazing thinker... read his articles... his way of conceptualizing ideas and organizing them is probably the reason why he's the only person to come up with Melodyne!

I think it's a great program, but I've never been able to get it to work properly. Pilot error I suppose. These days I just try to hit the intervals, and leave the clammy bits in. grin

I think he is some kind of wizard or something. To be able to change a single note in a polyphonic recording or split a recorded note and make two complete different notes is crazy. If this was a MIDI file that would be nothing but a polyphonic audio file is.
I have watched all of his videos and agree he is an amazing thinker. This program goes way beyond pitch correction.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!

With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!

And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
