I have Audiofile 2015 for mac
I'm supposed to be able to highlight the measure and type in the chord. Instead of the chord symbol appearing in the measure it stays blank and when I'm trying to press the letter on the keyboard I get this dischord sound that mac makes???
I have imported the fonts as they instructed. I've followed the manual and the tutorial.
Am I doing something wrong?
Frustrated in Chicago.

Jimg,
Welcome to the BIAB forum! Yes, you've definitely got something wrong - now to just try to figure out what. It sounds like you are trying to run BIAB from an external drive? What happens if you don't try to enter anything, but you just click on "play"? (the default should be that it just plays based on a C chord). Are you able to hear any music?

Hi. Thanks for replying!
Yes I am running from the BB hard drive it shipped in. Yes I do get the the audio c chord to play the ZZjazz.sty: jazz swing style default.
So first, following the tutorial, I choose a style from the style picker. Then, use the keyboard method for adding chords starting with the first measure. At first all I got was a ping sound regardless of the letter I was trying to type. Today I actually get different pitches from each different key.
I also see that in addition to the first measure being highlighed in black, other measures seem to randomly be highlighted at the same time.
Any thoughts?

Hmmm, sounds like maybe somehow you've got the keyboard playalong wizard activated. Try looking under the "Play" menu and unchecking that item ("Wizard Playalong" - a little over halfway down the list).
I don't know if you also realize that when you type a letter for a chord, you don't see the letter in the chord box until you move the cursor again. So, if you go back to the default "C" chord with ZZjazz.sty default, use the arrow keys to move the cursor to the second measure (you'll click the right arrow twice). Now type "F". Then click the right arrow twice more to put the cursor in the third measure. You should now see the "F" chord in the second measure box on the chord grid. If you now type "G" (with the cursor in the third measure of the chord grid), you again won't see the "G" until you move the cursor again. So hit the right arrow, and now you'll see the "G". Does that make any sense at all? Does that help fix your problem?
Another thing to always try when the program is acting funny is "Return To Factory Settings" under the "Options" menu. I hope one of those suggestions helps. If not, post what happens here again, or you can always contact PG Music customer service - they are usually very responsive and helpful.
Keep at it. When you get this thing to work, you'll have a blast with it!

Yes the problem was the Wizard playalong was checked so I unchecked it and now I am able to enter the symbols.
Fantastic! Thank you so much Bruce!

I have the HD BIAB Audiofile .
I Tried to save a song project into BIAB HD so I can access it on my other computer.
When I tried to save it I got the "Error: Cannot save to root drive." box.
I'd like to save all my projects onto the BIAB hard drive. Is that possible?

I've been at this now for just two weeks and realize I have a lot to learn. I was wondering if there is any way to detect or see the voicing of the notes in a chord played by a piano or guitar in the real styles?
I wanted to voice lead some of then in the Chord Builder and it would be helpful to actually see the notes of the chords that were used to create the real style track.
I hope I'm going about this right.
Love this BIAB so far!!!

Love this BIAB so far!!! jimg, Welcome. As you look at the different track names, you may see some of the track names are underlined. When a track name is underlined the underline is telling you the track has midi notation that will print out when you print a lead sheet for that track.

Thanks!
When I select lead sheet that is what I get. A sheet with chord symbols that are being played for the song. But...
To voice lead the arrangement I need the notes of the chord written in standard music notation style. This way I can tweek some of the inner notes of each particular chord.
The chordal instrument track is underlined, however I am not sure I am selecting that individual track for printing or the whole song?

The chordal instrument track is underlined, however I am not sure I am selecting that individual track for printing or the whole song? The lead sheet can be for one instrument, some instruments or all instruments. It all depends on what you select by highlighting the tracks. I don't read music so I have guitar tab selected to print, is that what you mean when you say chord symbols; or do you mean the chord names as displayed on the chord sheet? If so, look at the choices that can be selected to print; perhaps other choices may work better. Something else too, select a pdf printer while working through the choices to save printer and ink. Once you have the choices you want selected, then switch to your normal printer. Remember too, RealTracks are audio tracks so what you're hearing is not what is being printed. The midi notation is transcribed and added to the RealTrack after the audio is recorded.

When you sat "highlight the track" do you mean selecting the white dot inside of the blue dot in the track radio buttons?
I tried that on a track that was underlined and got a menu that had "select midi patch" But when I select "lead sheet" to print and choose notation options to load I still get the chord symbols instead of the standard music notation for the chords that I need to see to arrange the chords.
I'm not sure this program is able to show and notate chords with real music notes I was just curious.

There are enough differences between the Windows and Mac versions that I don't know. Hopefully a Mac user will join the discussion.
Perhaps you can chat, email or telephone support if you do not quickly receive an answer from a knowledgeable Mac user.

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
