Actually did this tune a few years ago on maybe BB 2008...can't recall.
I used the Chet Atkins BG and notated the intro/outro note by note. Towards the ending, I cut out one instrument at a time until the outro.
I did use an octave box to take my voice down an octave and ran the SM58 mic thru a Eurorack 602A mixer to Magix SW track, adding the BB track mix.
I purposely brought the vocal up front but I think you're right that it's too far up front AND overloaded. It was a quickie mix and I need to redo it with the latest BB 2016.
